If the Rangers play at Yankee Stadium next winter, like the Sabres and Penguins played in Buffalo this January, NBC is pressing for the Blueshirts' opponent to be the Bruins. such a game would likely be promoted as the 1st of a home and home between the Original Six rivals, with the back half to be planned at Fenway Park for a future season.

Could former Michigan State goalie Ryan Miller be the Red Wings' goalie of the future? That is the rumor that was swirling around Buffalo since the Sabres have watched their best players leave through free agency or trades since winning the Presidents' Trophy in 2006-07. Miller, who grew up in East Lansing, will become an unrestricted free agent in July 2009.

It is quite likely the same will happen with Campbell, a gifted 27 year old defenceman, who will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

More people in the U.S. tuned in on New Year's Day to see the NHL play outdoors than any other regular season game in more than a decade. The Penguins-Sabres game in snowy Buffalo, the 1st regular season outdoor NHL game in the United States, drew a 2.6 overnight rating and a 5 share on NBC.
