Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon mentioned he would like to "add a power-play guy. A really top notch defenseman who can play a lot of minutes, and a top notch forward". The offense could be boosted by a defenseman who can play QB on the power play and Sharks free agent Brian Campbell fits the bill perfectly.

The Ducks think that there is a line to be drawn in a physical hockey game and they felt the Blackhawks crossed it in a 3-0 loss Wednesday. George Parros and Sean O'Donnell were among several players who had taken exception to some Blackhawks, in particular enforcer Ben Eager, taking shots at captain Chris Pronger in his 1st game since breaking his jaw.

Commissioner Gary Bettman was not encouraging about the Blackhawks' chances to take part in, let alone host, the NHL's next outdoor game. Chicago is one of 9 cities that have expressed interest, joining Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, Denver, New York, Boston, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
