05/13/2008 The NHL fined Mike Ribeiro, Chris Osgood and Steve Ott for actions they had taken in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, however suspended nobody for today's Game 3. Still, the war of words between the Stars and Red Wings continued.

However, they sure would appreciate being recognized as only the 2nd team in modern NHL history to go from worst in the league one year to the conference finals the next. The Red Wings did it in 1987.

04/18/2008 Red Wings coach Mike Babcock would not commit straight out after Game 4's 3-2 loss to Nashville to start Chris Osgood in Game 5, however I do not think that is much more than Babcock wanting to sleep on it before announcing his decision.

Sunday Datsyuk practiced with Valtteri Filppula and Tomas Holmstrom, whilst Zetterberg was between Johan Franzen and Mikael Samuelsson.

04/03/2008 GM Ken Holland mentioned he has had some good talks concerning an extension for Red Wings coach Mike Babcock, whose contract expires in the summer, however "we have not been able to agree on something that makes us both comfortable". Neither side would like to pursue talks after the playoffs begin.
