Leafs - Second Last Place Team

Tyler Bozak, top 5 pick, 2016 1st

For a rebuilding team in the leafs, that is way too much, the 2016 pick could be top 5 too

Depends on who the second team is. I can pretty much guarantee Buffalo will not trade down.

If you tweaked the trade to each teams needs (I.e a Bernier instead of Bozak it was Edmonton), then maybe. But even then I'm not convinced.

Have u learned nothing from the past trading the leafs 1st rounder has been brutal for the team in many many years.

Anybody remember a guy named Scott Niedermayer 1st round for Tom Kurvers

92- 5th overall Kasperitis
97- 4th overall Luongo
01- Aki Berg Trade turned in to Cammelleri
10-- Kessel for Seguin and Hamilton

So yeah let's trade the 2016 1st rounder which looks like a lottery pick if this team is in full rebuild mode

I am never a huge fan of retroactive analysis on draft picks. Mainly bc you can't assume Toronto would have picked the same player. Nor can you assume that if Toronto had drafted that player they would be the same player they were/are on the team that drafted them. point being, the assets moved aren't the players that are drafted, they are the picks.

At any rate, I don't know much about the 2016 draft class, but I know what people are saying about Conner McDavid.

So let me spin it another way. Go back to 2005. If you could trade up to get Crosby, isn't that worth pretty much any combination of players to one team? I mean so generally bc clearly if you could cherry pick the best players maybe you would find a better combo, but in terms of building a franchise, if McDavid is as good as people say then it MIGHT be worth a look.

With that all said, it's not going to happen.
