Tampa already has 70M$ cap; if they wanna keep Namestnikov, Sustr (RFA), Kilhorn, Brown, Kucherov (2016 RFA), Drouin (2017 RFA), Hedman, Johnson und Palat(2017 UFA) long term as their core they have to split with Stamkos.

to TML: Stamkos
to Bolts: JVR, Frederik Gauthier, Josh Leivo, 1st

You don't trade Stamkos to keep other players. You find players to play with Stamkos.

Stupid, just stupid

Why would toronto do this trade?
We could just sign him when he become a Ufa next season. But Stamkos is not going anywhere! No more

1. IF they were about to trade him, they'd receive 28 better offers. Try starting with Nylander, Rielly, Marner and some 1sts, haha.
2. No they do not have to trade anyone to keep Stamkos or vice versa. Cap will rise, plus TB has several contracts they can either trade or let expire (Carle, Filppula, Bishop, Coburn, Garrison). All players can eaisly be replaced (in 1-2 years) from within the system. Not to mention further draft picks, possible FA signings or trades.

Carle, Coburn and Garrison can be replaced by DeAngelo, Koekkoek, Nesterov, Witkowski, Masin, MacLeod, etc. Filppula can get replaced by Point, Peca, or simply expanding the role of Namestnikov). Vasilevskiy will overtake Bish's starting job in 1-2 years anyways.
So there won't be any cap trouble at all, especially if everyone might take a slight paycut to keep this team together. Gagner's retained salary will come off our books after this year, too.

Plus, it's not like guys like Sustr/Namestnikov will get super big contracts this summer.

Just shhhhh if you've got no idea about other teams situations, thanks.
