I just saw that. The second is conditional from what i see. Sad to see Sergachev leave, but developing a star D when in win mode is hard to do when the market is in need of defense. Good for tampa to eventually have Hedman and Sergachev on their top line.

Drouin has the highest ceiling but I like it for both teams.

Crazy trade indeed!

Makes sense for both teams though. Although, I thought if Montreal was going to move Sergachev it would be for a 1st line C but things change.

I think it's easy to say early winner is Montreal because they get help now but Tampa also gets cap space to be used elsewhere plus an extra protection spot for expansion which means they could lose a lot less due to expansion and not being able to sign their players.

So I say its currently tilted in Montreal's favour but in a year or 2 could change to Tampa's side.

I'm surprised this deal went down between division rivals especially because of the talent involved.
Tampa and Montreal have traded in the past, just not as big until now.

Now it's going be fun to see what other big deals drop.

Also just a thought,

Does the loser of this deal become the Avs because there aren't many other teams willing to trade a top d-prospect for Duchene?

So this deal takes another team out of the Duchene sweepstakes, which could be bad for Avs.
Just speculating here based on this trade.

Really happy as a habs fan.

If sergachev plays more than 49 games for Tampa next year regular season and playoffs no picks are exchanged.

Interesting move, only time will tell who the winner is. Sergachev is unproven yet, but i think he will make the lightning next year. Tampa gets what they need, Mtl still hasn't a 1C even with moving Sergachev. Surprised that 2 teams within the same division made a blockbuster trade.

I think Montreal won this in my opinion but honestly really good for Tampa. Got a young promising dman AND they save a spot for expansion draft. That's really important and that opens up some cap to sign other players.

If you think he makes the Lightning next year, you're underestimating Cooper, haha. He hates playing young talent.

Not sure if Sergachev makes team bext year, but I think he has a bright future in the league.
Also, if we have to move Sergachev, i'm glad it was for Drouin and not Duchene. Much rather have Drouin.

Biggest looser is Colorado. I believe the Montreal offered the same package for Duchene. Sakic seems scared to make a big trade. I guess he could still trade with the Flyers. I have heard rumors they have interest in Duchene. I truely believe Sakic dropped the ball on this one.

No Way.

That's nuts.
Fair deal imo though.

Crazy.

Good job McJesus.
