If the isles know he isn't coming back, that's a steal for them. If canes don't know that he's signing long term with them, that's organization suicide. And if it's a 7 year extension with it, they might. Hanifin is good and young but if one team can afford to move a really good young D, it's Carolina. And Aho should be really good too, but have to include a high end forward as well. The first will Have to be in any deal and canes first might be later than normal, looking like they could be an improved team, especially if Tavares played there all year.

Thats for sure a yes from islanders with how young they are and good, but big no from Carolina they aren't contenders yet and Tavares wouldn't make them better in the long run.

A top 4D with top 2 upside, a top 6 forward with 1st line potential and a 1st round pick for an established superstar C in his prime but with 1 year left. Tough honestly, given his contract situation I'm going to say too much for Tavares.

I think it's ok value for him. It's so hard to put a price on a player like him. IMO he is a top 5-10 player in the world.
