The islanders are in need of defence.
Oilers are in need of cap space and wingers and RHD. What about this?

Oilers: Sekera
Islanders: Ho Sang (He isn’t working for them)

Oilers: get a good RHW prospect that is cheap and would look good on McDavid’s right wing.
Islanders: get a good defence man in return.

Oilers: will have the space to go over for RHD. Would love Carlson (Capitals), but maybe Green for a season or two until Bear is better ready for the NHL.

Sekera has been terrible this year, and has like negative value rn. He ain't getting Ho Sang tbh, espex at that contract.

Sekera has always been a good dman. This season he was injured and hurt.

Also, what has Ho sang proven? Nothing! Potential and bad attitude only!

Ho sang hasn’t proved anything so can’t see him with so much value and you can’t say sekera has been terrible considering he was injured the whole year and had the worst luck iv ever seen. However yes he was not a good player this year unfortunately and with his contract he defs does not carry a whole ton of value. But no from islanders on this one, maybe Russell intrigues Islanders? Or benning?

Damn it NYI don’t need an other defensive DMan.

That’s how islanders get better in the absence of Tavares. trade a young high skilled forward for a 4th-5th D who makes half what it would take to keep Tavares lol.

It doesn’t matter how skilled the forwards are. No defence, no winning. We saw that his year with the oilers and the islanders. Plus, I’m betting Bo Sang will be traded soon. Bad terms!

@MJ

Matt Benning shoukd be able to get it done tbh. I'm not saying Sekera isn't proven to be decent/ good. I'm saying NYI should never want that contract on their team, especially with only 3 points in 36 games this year. Sure he's been injured, but any trade of him ATM would be a pure salary dump, and no value should be going back the other way. Just simply based on this year, and his contract.

Matt Benning and a 3rd may be good though.

And @EOil, no HoSang hasn't proven much, but NYI ain't going to trade a former first round pick for a bad contract.

Yup I agree top shelf.
And benning and a 3rd could be very interesting to islanders If they really do wanna trade ho sang.

Sekera has nagitive value.

Sekera is also 31. Bad attitude or not, Ho Sang is a 22 year old forward with talent that you have slotted in next to McDavid. I’m guessing he’s worth more than Sekera.

Again, got to love when guys make a trade proposal for a player, put him on their projected top line and then tear the player down and try to diminish the asset when people tell you it’s not a fair offer. If HoSang is unproven, not worth anything and a bad attitude, then there’s an easy solution. don’t trade for him! Why bring a problem into the dressing room and put him with your best player! Lol.

I didn’t say the kid isn’t talented, but his trade value is low. I’m putting that out. That means he doesn’t require a top dman to get him, especially when the islanders need dman. So ya lol!
