Let's say the Habs decide to trade Price. They would need to find a team which 1) has the cap space, 2) has the prospects that could help Montreal right away, 3) isn't in their division (or conference) and 4) sends you a goalie replacement back.

My proposal...

To COL:
Carey Price

To MTL:
Semyon Varlamov
Samuel Girard
Lower of 2019 1sts

Price's value is strongly influenced by his contract so you can't expect to receive a superstar for him. But Varlamov is a great starter if he's healthy and if he's not, you still have Charlie Lindgren. Girard is a wet dream of Habs' fans - French Canadian, young and LHPMD. That first round pick would probably be Colorado's so I expect it to be in 15-25 range.

So Colorado gets a star goalie (We all know how it went last time they get one from Montreal). Habs save cap space while getting less talented but still pretty good goalie, young LHD and a first round pick.

Terrible. Price still has way more value than that. Bergevin will not trade him unless the return is way better than that. Carey Price is the face of the franchise and it's going to take a lot of pieces to snag him.

I honestly think last season of Carey Price eas just a bump in the road and that he will rebounce and be back into talks for the best goalie the world has to offer. But if mtl can get 3 younger peaces ( 1 29 year old starter) , young lhd who had a good rookie start in the nhl and a solid forst rd pick in a goos draft year (2019 supose to have some really good players like Jack Hugues) Imtaking this from mtl.
