So apparently the Nashville Predators are actively shoping deffensman PK Subban. This is shocking considering the Predators have been so successful.

PK Subban ( 29 ) is native of Toronto, Ontario and spent the previous 9 seasons between Nashville and the Montreal Canadians. During the 2012-2013 a lockout shortened season PK Subban established him self as an elite defender by winning the Norris trophy as the leagues top defender.

Possible reason to trade

1. He wore out his welcome in the dressing room

2. The predators are trying to get cap to make a push for Tavares

Perhaps the team with the biggest need for a number 1 RHD is Toronto and David Poile has a reputation of of making blockbuster trades.

My offer as a leafs fan.

Toronto: William Nylander, Timothy Liljegren and 25th overall

Nashville: PK Subban and Nick Bonino

Toronto: The Leafs desperately need a Franchise dman and Subban is that. He's a hometown boy and would quickly become a fan favourite. He loves the big markets. Nick Bonino fill the 3c void. To get Tavares they'll need to trade 1 of Bonino/Turris or Johanson

Nashville: the Predators gain cap space to make a push for Tavares well getting back a first line winger to upgrade Avidsson, a potential replacement for subban and a pick bath in this years draft.

Value wise this probably favours the preds but no team would give more.

I think it’s too much for Subban, I like Subban and everything but if the leafs are to give up that package I’d sooner they go after drew doughty, Ekblad, Hamilton or even Ristolainen. Not that I think those guys are available. Don’t forget the rebuild is not quite done yet, too early to start trading away youth, especially core youth players. I’d like to see what liljegren can do before they trade him. Also good as PK is I wouldn’t say he’s a “franchise player”.

Pk talked mad rubbish about Toronto when he was drafted by Montreal. He won't be welcomed here. And he's been described as an issue in the dressing room, so a instant pass from toronto.

I would not touch Hamilton but the other 3 d listed are nice and any elite dman would be welcomed in Toronto.

Wouldn’t pay that much for subban. Between a ‘promote me before a team’ attitude and a massive salary, I don’t see a fit. Leafs have built a pretty close knit team of talented young players that they need to sign and hope to sign a bit below market value to keep it all together. Bringing in a big personality/ ego with a massive contract could really mess with that structure and hierarchy. It’s hard to ask a guy like marner or Matthews to take less than they’re worth after what they have done for you since being drafted when you’re willing to give assets and pay that kind of salary to a guy that hasn’t done anything for you.
