Thirdly, leafs wouldn’t pay a 2nd for mccarron lol they already have Gauthier, and wouldn’t get close to a 2nd rounder for him. So why pay that for a similar player we don’t need?

Leafs are not Trading a 22yr old Star Forward for a 32yr old Defenceman that won't play until Christmas, if Montreal added a Prospect and they switched 1st Round Picks maybe but why would the Leafs weaken themselves this Season with Matthews and Marner contracts up after this Season, for Montreal sure they do it.

Yeah, all we can do is assume Weber is still going to be great when he returns. Reality is he’s not a young guy, had hard miles on his body and has run into injury problems. He’s not untradable by any means, but until he’s back and playing 90%+ of where he used to be, you can get the thought of getting a Nylander type return out of your head.
