Can the Flamers afford to even add around $7M cap?
I think the Flames should deal Gio, Brodie or Hamonic and keep Hannifin and Valmaki. They are starting to get old with Gio, Brodie, Hamonic and Smith in net. Keep the youth.
I think Nylander would look damn good with them tho.

I’d definitely do Nylander for Gio and 1st.

Flames won’t be dealing their young defenders. They are looking great and their forward depth looks good too. Their goaltending looks shaky though.

Very similar to the Brayden Schenn deal that landed Philly Frost and Farabee. I like this trade. It demonstrates very astute cap and asset management. That Valimaki kid is very highly rated. If Calgary doesn’t want to trade him, they also have Andersson, who would be another good choice. Jankowski hasn’t done much up to this point. Big kid that plays a strong game, inexpensive and controllable for a number of years still.

If Toronto doesn’t do this, it would only be because they are wanting someone more proven for that 1RHD spot. But it’s got to be close to what they can expect in terms of a package of prospects/ picks. May have to take a cap dump of some sort too as yup pointed out.

Woah, jankowski scores nearly as much as nylander as a 3rd line as nylander scores playing with Mathews? Plus add a top prospect and a 1st? And then millions of cap space? Just horrible for the flames.

Jankowski .34PPG Nylander .73PPG is not nearly as much shoots. I don’t know enough about Valimaki to have an opinion on the proposal but Nylander is much better than Jankowski at the moment.

I hate the Flamers but really like Jankowski but also know Nylander is a lot better, lol, and it's not really close.
Janko is/ will be a solid third line center.

"Scores" didn't say points, nylander 20 in 82 games, jankowski 17 in 72 games. 1 of these guys had less time on the ice, guess which one, 13:21 to 16:41.

In 400 mins+ playing with Mathews, instead of bennet and Hathaway, safe to assume jankowski could at least match nylanders numbers, he's a few years older yes, nylander has a lot more room to grow but players sometimes regress.
