Assuming this is both Ottawa's pick and Colorado's if they don't make playoffs? If this were to happen that would be insanely not fair for rest of the league hahaha.

Would that make them better then Tampa, Leafs And Jets?

Colorado has garbage goaltending and defense Is subpar.

Goaltending is decent just hasn't been great this year and the defence is at least equal to toronto. The thing separating them from other teams right now is mostly forward depth which hughes and kakko makes up for almost immediately. Plus you know how this works when a team gathers enough talent and look like they are on the right path free agents are more willing to sign there. So IMO year 1 with this lineup may have some growing pains but they would be among the best very soon. Makar and Timmons coming along would instantly improve the blue line and this top six forward unit would potentially be the best in the league.

Plus for a few years that top six will be much cheaper then the top six of the other teams you mentioned on top of being better.

I’m not going to argue that adding those two players makes them significantly better, but do those 2 players add 50 points in the standings? Because that’s about how many points Colorado is on pace to finish behind Tampa right now. It’ll probably be closer to 30, but still that’s 15 wins to expect from 2 players seems a little much for me. It’s likely by the time Colorado develops into a real contender teams like Tampa will he on their downturn, they won’t instantly jump that far up even if they peak higher.

If they got both hughes and kakko this year. In two seasons they would be the top team in the league IMO.

VBBBVVBB - Actually the goaltending has really hurt the Avs the last couple months. I believe Varly is .88 save percentage and Grubbys isn't any better.

Trade Varly now while you might get something in return. Going into playoffs goalies get hurt, someone needs him (peffect example, both Avs goalies got hurt before and in playoffs last year, rolled with a third stringer and still took Preds to six games) Francouz is being whispered to be the future. (He's amazing)
