I like Hall, but I'm not trading Laine for a soon to be UFA that in all likelihood will want a bigger contract than Laine will get.

Hughes and Laine would be nuts.

If it wasn't for the amount Hall would want for his next contract it would be interesting but I agree with marcus the Jets say no.

If I we're Chevy, I'd roll the dice on Laine and go for a 8 year deal for around 9.25M. You over pay for the first two years, but your hopping that you underpay if he actually goes off to a 50 goal scorer each season.
If you can't do the 8 year deal, than I would look to see what interest is out there for him. 8 years or nothing in my opinion.

I was thinking in the realm of Laine already wanting out of Winepeg and carrying on with the rumor of Hall wanting out of NJ.

Sure Chevy and the jets are pressed and have always been tight when it comes to the cap and throwing money but if you have a chance to acquire Taylor Hall while knowing Laine may be problematic in the future for the Jets you find other ways to fit him in.

As mentioned earlier Laine and Hughes would be nuts, the fire power up front for the Jets would also be nuts.

Thatguy, a Laine-Hughes line won't happen. Because if Laine is going to NJ, then 1st overall is going to Winnipeg. Hall won't do it as the Jets won't want an older, more expensive player in return for Laine.

Laine isn't getting you the 1st overall. It's an interesting idea. Winnipeg is in a win now mode so adding Hall makes them immediately better. I've read Laine wants in the $10million area. I personally don't think he's done enough to warrant getting that much. Interesting none the less.

1st overall and Miles Wood for Schifele, Laine And Trouba would be the starting price for 1st overall.

I do not think Hall is worth Laine. He is good, yes. Very good. But I think Laine is worth more. Until we see next year maybe Hall does good again and he is signed.

Actually, the first overall has done nothing to prove its worth Laine. I know most guys here over value picks and prospects to the ultimate. But that is some truly dense thinking. 😆.

Wow the jets guys are truly insane. You guys just trolls or actually believe first overall isn't worth a soon to be overpaid one demesional player?

Very ture joe. Hughes has not proven anything yet.
Liane has proven to be streaky and inconsistent. I wouldn't offer him 10M a year. maybe do a bridge deal at 8M.
