Oilers:

Milan and 2020 1st rounder (Lottery protected, can defer to 2021, Oilers decision)

Ottawa:
2020 7th rounder.

That’s what it took the leafs to trade Marleau Lucic contract is way worse so you do the math.

I would say it would take something like

Oilers: Lucic, 2020 1st round pick, puljujärvi, bear

Ottawa: some b-grade prospect

Ottawa gets assets that would help in the rebuild

And if oilers could trade Russel for a 2/ 3rd round pic that would free up 10m.

Vbbbvvbb you're right, but milan also is younger and more physical. His flaws are what they are but the Oilers aren't slated to make the playoffs for the next 2-3 years. That means that potentially ottawa could have a top draft pick to go along with their young guns. If the risk doesn't pay off then it's just 6 million from a multi million dollar cap space to spend for minimum a top 15 pick. Not like Ottawa has any superstar to sign in the next 4 years aside from Brady and Thomas.

Plus, Toronto is slated to make the playoffs next year and the year after and so on so the pick is much less valuable. Even if Edmkntkn finishes 17th in the league. Montreal got Cole Caufield, so you do the math.

What? But anyway 6 million for 4 years is a dead weight contract nothing like that’s ever been moved unless it’s LTIR. Swechamps proposal is much better.
