Quick News on Puljujarvi

''Over a total of five tweets, Mitchell (Lowetide) effectively says he believes there's an offer on the table from a team like Carolina, Puljujarvi's agent knows it and he's trying to put pressure on to force the Oilers hand to accept the offer. If people in Edmonton hate Puljujarvi just enough not to want him back, perhaps the team will take a trade they don't like just to move the player out''

Wow. I understand that the Oilers screwed up his development, but this is just classless. Having your agent force a trade and what seems to get hate on purpose so he'd get traded is... unbelievable.

If he wants a top 6 role, the Oilers are a perfect fit. They need a bigger winger, and he'll probably play with RHN the entire season simply because there is nobody better. Basically the entire coaching staff is brand new except for Gulutzan.

What was the excuse for him playing 4th line minutes last year? He wasn’t given a chance to succeed last year so I understand why he wants a change. He’s definitely handling it wrong though. Why not play in the NHL and wait to be traded. There’s no way him making a scene increases his trade value which will make it harder for him to get traded.

@Eb
I don’t think the Oilers really did anything that wrong with Puljujarvi.
A) they got tons of hate in the past by rushing prospects into the 2nd/ 1st line and not letting them develop properly.
B) Oilers wanted to ease him into the NHL. They wanted him to get used to the speed, skill and size of other NHL players. That’s why he was put on the 3rd/ 4th line in the beginning.
C) Throughout the year the Oilers wanted to send Puljujarvi down to the AHL but his agent and him wanted for him to play in the NHL.
D) Oilers believe in putting out the best lineup every night, and Jesse Puljujarvi WAS put on the 2nd line and he could not keep up. If you can’t keep up on the second line, you get dropped to the third and so forth. That’s just how it works. Other players outplayed him.
E) Almost all of the scouts and experts expected him to be NHL ready by his rookie year, Oilers didn’t rush him.

To summarize
Oilers thought he was NHL ready in his rookie year just like everybody else, he showed he wasn’t, they wanted to send him down to the AHL but his agent wanted him in the NHL. In order to give the team the best chance to win, you have to put out the best lineup every night. That means Jesse being on the 3rd/ 4th line. he was given the chance to be on the 2nd line with RHN, he blew it.

He was given a really short leash and I don’t know if he even played a full consecutive three periods in the top 6.
Most importantly, who cares what him or his agent said. If that’s even true. Instead of playing a 19 year old on the 4th line, you play him top minutes in the AHL. Developing 101.

Stinks is just an Oilers troll who only comments Oilers hate. That’s a fact.

I mean, yeah, everybody has a very short leash in Edmonton. We were trying to get into the playoffs last season and if we missed, most coaching staff and management knew they would be fired.

Quote from Edmonton Journal: ''fell apart when he was put on a line with Draisaitl for two games. He does not think the game that well. He doesn’t want the puck on his stick for very long, and he hasn’t learned to use his big body in the corners to hold checkers off… ''

Simply put, he wasn't good enough for the 2nd line. In order for the Oilers to be better, they couldn't have him on the 2nd line because he was a liability.

I was incorrect, he was put on the Draisaitl line instead of the RHN one.

I agree he definitely wasn’t ready for top 6 minutes. He showed spurts of being a good player. I think he was decent in a third line role. It still doesn’t excuse the fact he was playing 8 minutes a night instead of 20 in the AHL. The best part about drafting a player playing in Europe is 3 years of AHL hockey until his entry level is up. But the Oil didn’t take advantage of that a wrecked his development in the process.
