This trade would look bad even 30 years ago when trades used to include cash incentives.

Do you also want to make sure the vending machines in Little Caesars arena are stocked for free for the next 2 years?

Sorry. Remove the $5 million cash from the trade. Add or remove more?

I love the cash from Montreal going to another of the richest franchises.

I think the only way Detroit would give up 1st overall, would be for k. k. domi and their 1st in 2020. Lafrenier might not be worth that much, but just like Matthew's, Hughes and mcdavid, it would take more than the individual may be worth.

Habs look to finish low enough that they might win the lottery themself. And even if they don’t, there is a very good chance they get a top 10 pick in the best draft in a very long time. There’s a real good chance they will pick a superstar themselves already.

This is my first trade post so the feedback and reality checks were much appreciated.
Would love to see Montreal draft Lafrennier, and do it in Montreal no less.

I'm sorry to tell you but there's ZERO chance that Yzerman would trade that lottery pick if Detroit won the 1st overall pick. Its the franchises first chance to get the 1st overall in over 30 years, and the fans have been waiting for this to happen ever since we embraced the rebuild.

If Laffreniere doesn't pan out in Detroit after 2-3 seasons I could see him being traded but the pick itself won't be moved if Detroit wins it.

As it stands I think Ottawa has the best chance to win the lottery right now.
