I have a bombshell Trade Proposal.

Nashville Trades
Forsberg (50% of Contract Retained)
Ekholm (50% of Contract Retained)
6th Round Pick 2021

Toronto Trades
Kerfoot
Dermott
Sandin (AHL)
Hirvonen (SHL)
1st Round Pick 2021
2nd Round Pick 2021
1st Round Pick 2022

If Poile is ready to go full out rebuild this Trade would do that, retaining half of both Forsberg and Ekholm would only be the rest of this season and next as they both become UFAs after next season.

Toronto would hit the homerun of trades adding both Forsberg and Ekholm over Kerfoot and Dermott, Dubas I believe will either pull out a huge one like this or just add to what he already has with pending UFAs other Teams are looking to unload.

Thoughts ?

Definitely risky from Toronto’s perspective. I’d rather see them do a Nylander+ for forsberg so they don’t lose so much of their future.

There is no way you’re getting both Forsberg and Ekholm @ 50% salary retention. Nashville can get better assets by trading them separately. I see Forsberg fetching a 1st, A- prospect, roster player. Probably even more. Ekholm would likely return a 1st, B+ prospect and roster player. Without having to retain any salary

NotACasual- tell me the last time a player has gotten what you think Forsburg will get? You know absolutely nothing about the nhl clearly because you’re making absolutely baseless claims. There is no way Nashville passes this up. It’s amusing the things you say on here.

Also break down the value here I see 2 roster players/ replacements, 1 A prospect, 1 b prospect, 2 1sts and a 2nd.

Yeah I agree with @Nylander, it’s certainly not a bad offer. Sandin is a great prospect and the 2 1sts and 2nd is nice. Maybe you include Hallander and Hirvonen to pay for the retention and taking back two contracts, but this offer is certainly enough to make Nashville think about it.

Nashville declines the offer without hesitation.
I think it’s impossible for one team to get both of those players. not enough trade assets. Nashville would do much better trading each player individually.

@quinnjj
Sure Nashville will wait on getting more for 2 players that are UFAs after next season, they do that and any rebuild will take double the time as Nashville are dealing from a standpoint of weakness having a bad team, truth is that Poile is smart enough that if he gets greedy wanting more than worth he will be stuck with those 2 players and if he can get assets like my proposal he does the opposite of what you posted.
