Got to be honest with you the free agent This summer I said that stralhman of tb should go in montreal he went to tampa! Just like filpulla! I think that players go to tampa just to avoid paying more tax and having the good wether help! So if Anton would have come to Montreal it would have cost at least a 1.5 mil or more! I feel sorry for buffalo and Edmonton who don't have anything to offer for these player! Gionta is finish and pouliot is way overpaid!

the etra tax has become so overrated, its really a negligable amount when its all said and done.

and most players decide on a team based on its quality or opportunity they will be given.

Tampa is the better organization, regardless of taxes or weather or media (all 3 are factors in free agent decisions don't get me wrong)

tampas got

way better forwards
way more defensive depth
a great young goalie
lots of help on the way in the farm

habs have

meh forwards
meh d aside from subban
world class goalie.
not a tonne coming up.

straight hockey decision i'd choose tampa too, media weather and taxes are just the icing on the cake.

I don't even recall montreal even offering stalman or fillpula a contract so maybe they didn't even have a choice.im fine without them and mostly all the other ufa's who were overpaid this summer.

Yes indeed hab in not into that free agent stuff ether but if I would have to choose between gilbert and him i'd chose him even if he cost a 1.5 tmore then gilbert cause if we got Anton in are line up he could be that 3 place d men that we desperatly need. The result of that would be that ether gonchar or alllen would not have been trade to montreal! And have a lot of millions to spare for the trade deadline

The gonchar and allen deals were made to free up cap for next season.i love these moves by bergevin.they need the millions more next year then they do at the deadline.

Starlman has played great for the lightning this year and as of right now he is not overpaid.when I made the comment I was talking more about players like orpik, engelland etc
