The leafs should hire Eakins as their next coach and see what the Oilers had to go thru.

I just read a 3rd interview of his since he'd been fired by the Oilers and, as usual, he laid claim to the good parts of their game recently. Especially regarding Yakupov, who has been FAR FAR better under Nelson than he was under Eakins, who treated him like garbage. Eakins blames, among other things, not getting the best out of Yak on not having Derek Roy as a center at the time. Seriously? An aging center was the missing cog? And that's only one example of where he passes the buck. Apparently the Oilers being awful for the first half of the year was ENTIRELY not his fault. Coughswarmcough.

Eakins may be a great AHL coach, but he is a joke as an NHL coach. I doubt he'll ever reach beyond assistant NHL coach from here on. I sure as hell wouldn't trust him with my team if I were a GM.

Seriously man what's with you and the leafs? And the leafs went from a coach that has their team out shot 40 - 20 every game and then to another coach that is incapable of coaching a system that can score more than 2 goals and refuses to give his most talented players a longer leash to do what they do best (create offense), so I wouldn't excatly say that the leafs have been blessed with the greatest systems over years.
