Confirmed trade:

MTL: Hunter Shinkaruk

CAL: Kerby Rychel

Minor deal, what's your thoughts.

Derkins

1.) 20 Aug 2018 20:03:11
I think it's been a boring summer lol. Minor league swap it appears but I did hear a little rumbling how habs were having a little trouble signing rychel. Maybe he wanted a 1 way contract or something idk.

2.) 20 Aug 2018 21:00:34
Rychel had problems demanding ice time in CBJ which is why leafs ended up with him. In the time he was here, he never got a real opportunity and we never heard any complaining (maybe he did but it was kept out of the media) . If habs were having problems with him, maybe best to cut bait now. Don’t think anyone sees a big upside in him anyway so low risk to move him along if he may be a headache for them. Maybe he’s just one of those guys that feels a bit entitled to certain things like ice time or a one way contract like Habby said, without ever actually earning it.

3.) 20 Aug 2018 21:18:52
Yeah it might just come down to he thinks he's ready to take the next step and wants a real shot at earning spot in an nhl lineup. I can't really fault him for that but like you said jim he has to earn it. In order for montreal to sign him to a one way deal they would have to get rid of someone else currently on the team to do so. I'm not sure of calgarys situation but maybe they could use him and give him a real shot. He still has some potential and could probably be a decent 4 the liner this year. I assume what the habs got back will be suiting up for laval this year.

4.) 20 Aug 2018 22:15:49
I'm thinking contract was definitely the problem because the Habs locked up Shinkaruk pretty quickly.

5.) 21 Aug 2018 00:04:41
Yeah, to me it’s a results driven business, so if he is better than other players on the depth chart, he would get his ice time regardless. Since his days in CBJ, when a young first round pick generally gets a bit longer leash and a bit better chance to grab a spot out of camp than other players, he hasn’t shown he deserved a spot over anyone else. He may be good when given that chance, but Hasn’t out worked or outplayed the other young guys in the organizations he was with.

6.) 21 Aug 2018 15:17:32
I wanted to see what Rychel could bring to the table. He played good last year. But Shinkaruk used to be a very touted prospect and still young so well see.

21 Jun 2017 20:14:00
I don't post trades very often so I thought it would be fun to come up with a scenario I find interesting and unlikely. ( I came up with this before Tuch was traded to Vegas) .

MTL: Galchenyuk, Pick #25, #50, #52

LV: Dumba, Pick #6

Followed up by.

MTL: Dumba, Pick #6

DAL: Pick #3

Montreal drafts Miro Heiskanen.

I know these trades aren't great or possible but hey I thought the idea was worth sharing.

Derkins

1.) 21 Jun 2017 22:43:21
Big overpayment & underpayment. No from minny on both

2.) 21 Jun 2017 22:50:30
LV is taking Haula from Minny.

3.) 21 Jun 2017 23:21:22
Horrible so basically we trade Galchenyuk, 1st, 2nd, 3rd for #3 pick 😂😂😂😂.

4.) 22 Jun 2017 14:19:26
This is so bad all around. Made my head hurt a little. Lol.

5.) 22 Jun 2017 16:59:29
So Chucky, a 1st and two 2nds for 3rd overall? I'd be disappointed with thay.

6.) 22 Jun 2017 20:47:48
So you gave up Chucky, #25,50,and 52 for Heiskanen. Seems like a lot for the 3rd pick. Might ask for something else from Dallas.

29 Jun 2016 04:58:55
According to the Score the Habs and David Perron share a mutual interest. As it looks now Perron may be a Hab come July 1.

Derkins

1.) 29 Jun 2016 05:36:56
The habs just love 3rd liners.

2.) 29 Jun 2016 05:46:59
Pretty much. As a Habs fan I've have learned to lower my expectations on July 1 because Bergevin will never make an impact signing. Although I really wish MB proves me wrong.

3.) 29 Jun 2016 07:09:38
Perron is actually a decent player from what I saw when he was with the Oilers.

4.) 29 Jun 2016 12:25:41
Montreal is a joke.

5.) 29 Jun 2016 14:29:19
For some reason I am expecting Montreal to try and sign Okposo or Ladd. Maybe for once try and get a legit top 6 guy. Or just keep with the third line type guys Shaw, Perron maybe or another Semin type experiment.

6.) 29 Jun 2016 14:55:50
Perron was actually pretty good for St. Louis, Edmonton, and Anaheim. The only team he was bad for was, surprisingly, Pittsburgh. He just needs to prove he can be a consistent threat. I'm surprised MB is actually going out to sign someone who can help their scoring.

7.) 29 Jun 2016 15:48:59
Perron only plays well in the Western Conference. He was trash on Pittsburgh. I hope Montreal pays him big money long term.

8.) 29 Jun 2016 17:13:58
Is that sarcasm stammer? Pretty sure it was but he's a dec player n doesn't matter what conference he was in it was just a team he didn't fit will in man.

25 Jun 2016 01:53:23
Draft trades so far

CHI: 2016 2nds #35 and #45
MTL: Shaw

WAS: Eller
MTL: 2017 and 2018 2nd

CAL: Elliott
STL: 2016 2nd #35.

Derkins

1.) 25 Jun 2016 02:23:31
Ott 12, 80 for 11 to NJ

Dats 16 to arz for 20, 2nd vitali.

2.) 25 Jun 2016 02:25:41
Correction Montreal traded pick #39.

3.) 25 Jun 2016 04:18:20
Such a good move by red wings when compared to what Blackhawks gave up to get rid of Bickel.

23 Jun 2016 19:41:09
Trade confirmed.

FLA: Berra
COL: Grimaldi

Not a big trade but hey here it is.

Derkins

1.) 23 Jun 2016 19:59:37
Good move for Colorado they really didn't need berry.

2.) 23 Jun 2016 20:06:25
Berra was in the ahl so makes sense to trade him making 2+ mil, looks like montoya will go to free agency.

05 Dec 2018 06:36:56
Saying this may make me sound like a jerk, but I got so much satisfaction out of seeing Tom Wilson getting blindsided. Its nice to see him on the receiving end of one of those for once.

Derkins

1.) 05 Dec 2018 12:59:34
It doesn’t make you sound like a jerk at all. Wilson had that coming. Unfortunately for me, I just picked him up in my fantasy pool.

2.) 05 Dec 2018 16:12:21
Didn’t look to me like Wilson had his helmet secured properly. Reaves didn’t even hit him in the head. Wilson had this one coming for a long time. He got what he deserved. It’s called karma.

3.) 05 Dec 2018 16:18:57
Wilson is a player that plays that type of game so I wouldn't be surprised if he encounters plays like this from other teams. As Reeves basically said get him before he gets one of your teammates. Wilson may get the message to clean up his act if this happens to him 4 or 5 more times.

4.) 05 Dec 2018 17:06:14
Wilson should have been suspended from his hit last game so if that had happened he wouldn't have been there to take this hit. the reeves hit should have been at least a game suspension but because of who he hit its fine not to give him one.

5.) 05 Dec 2018 18:07:35
I think its hilarious. I have been on HF boards enjoying the tears of washington fans. Calling Reaves a goon LOL.

6.) 06 Dec 2018 15:42:24
It was a dirty hit because the puck was no where near him. But if he had it, i would call it clean. I can't say the same for what Wilson deals out. Weather you have the puck or not, he consistently has dirty hits.

7.) 06 Dec 2018 22:19:36
I wouldn’t say it was a dirty hit, wasn’t from behind wasn’t technically blind side, Reeves hit him shoulder to shoulder. It could be argued that it was fractions of a second late but Wilson had the puck and dropped passed it back to a teammate. Wilson of all people should know that after the crap he’s pulled on other players he doesn’t have the luxury of admiring a pass, he should have his head on a swivel at all times.

8.) 07 Dec 2018 02:05:31
I can't believe I'm about to this cause it was nice to see but Wilson was in a vulnerable position that's why I think that hit would normally deserve a game or two. If reeves hits crosby there you would have seen a suspension for sure.

Confirmed deal

Tampa: Budaj, Cernak, 2017 7th, Conditional 2017

LA

Bishop, 2017 5th.

Derkins

1.) 27 Feb 2017 18:59:17
Cernak is good young rhd offesive dman

Erie Otters OHL gp41 g3 a14 p17 pim47 +27.

2.) 27 Feb 2017 20:15:25
19 year old guy putting up 17 points in 41 OHL games doesn't seem too offensive to me. But you see Lehtera and his consistent 30 assists as being one of the best playmakers in the entire league, so I understand your standards are low.

3.) 27 Feb 2017 20:22:50
Lol. 17 points in 41 games is super offensive.

And Paryako was robbed of the rookie of the year and Norris. Lehtera is the best set up man in the league. And Yak is no longer a huge bust, instead he's an important depth player now that he's on your team. And Terasenko is undoubtly the Heart trophy winner.

4.) 27 Feb 2017 23:30:23
he is 19 years old. ANd he is a plus 21. A stat you turds love to ignore. Shanky hows your mother doing still single. YOu still living in her basement.

5.) 27 Feb 2017 23:39:05
Yup i'm not sure where your going with your mocking but parayko is pretty much one of the best young stud dmen in the league. He is out performing ekblad in warrior and hero charts

ekbklad
gp61 g8 11a 19pts -21

reilly
gp55 g3 a19 22pts -15

parayko
gp61 g4 a24 28pts +2

2015-2016
gp79 g9 a24 33pts +28

oh and you two little turds said that he would never replicate the numbers he had last year. So not only was he the best dman in the world cup when given the chance after ekblad went down he is by far the better dman in the nhl this year. so what exactly do you have to say. LOL.

Those of you who are familiar with your favorite team's development camp roster, which undrafted invitee do you think has the best chance at earning a contract out of the camp?

I see people post little questions like this a lot so I thought I would give it a try.

Derkins

1.) 05 Jul 2016 20:47:39
For the lightning it has to be Alex Iafallo. With the number of contracts they already have it would appear doubtful they sign him but he's been the most impressive invitee by far. Was one of the better players there this year.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 02:30:48
None on Toronto.

3.) 06 Jul 2016 05:51:27
Disagree for toronto Anthony brodeur look alright toronto needs goalie depth may sign him and start him in the ahl.

4.) 06 Jul 2016 06:47:08
I figured I should give my opinion.

I think that the Habs should try to sign either Maxime Fortier, Giovanni Fiore or Scott Eansor. They all had decent numbers in their respective leagues and it could make up for the lack of forwards Montreal took at the draft.

I personally wouldn't be opposed to Kane in Montreal under two conditions:

1: The franchise is able to reign him in and keep him on his best behavior. (Unlikely)

2: They trade Patches. (Also unlikely)

All of this is moot. Drouin shouldn't have been at center in the first place.

I have zero hope that anything will come for Montreal in the rest of this offseason, MB is going to sit on his hands and the season will go to the dogs.

Fix-Wolansky is still draft eligible this year. As for Sissons and Halbgewachs, they are owned by New Jersey and San Jose respectively. Just thought I would add that.

I think that parts of the fan base are kind of at fault as as well. If you look back to the 2011-2012 season when Montreal hired Randy Cunneyworth. you would think that his lack of experience behind an NHL bench would scrutinized, but instead he was criticized for not speaking french. A portion of the fan base was actually angry that he couldn't speak the language. So shaking up the front office to change the philosophy is all well and good, but unless certain parts of the fan base are willing to accept the fact that a GM or coach can't speak the language whether or not he is the best man for the job, there is a chance it could harm the organization on the business side.

I don't think Marc Bergevin has any reason to feel secure in his position after this off-season. With the departure of Radulov the changes he made upfront are a wash, and as mentioned the defense looks bad. If this upcoming season goes off the rails someone should hold his feet to the fire. The last two seasons have been plagued by questionable asset management, enough is enough.

Its Marc Bergevin we're talking about here. It seems that every move he makes or tries to make is a detriment nowadays.
