I’d do the dumba deal just don’t think Minnesota would part with him as they’d be considerably weaker on the back end and no way Vancouver trades this years 1st for a player that is similar to what they already have in boeser (boeser is much better, but they play similar style) . Leafs don’t need another offensive minded d like Faulk, personally I don’t mind the zona trade, I like Chychruns style of play, I think he was a steal in the 2016 draft! Also don’t mind the Calgary trade.

2.) 01 Dec 2018 00:21:59
Calgary and Vancouver say no to giving up draft picks.
Minnesota is not giving up Dumba.
Carolina would do this for a 2nd round pick.

3.) 01 Dec 2018 00:22:31
Calgary doesn't have the cap room
Chychrun is untouchable from Arizona
Dumba is too valuable to Minnesota
Faulk and a 2019 2nd maybe
Van isn't getting rid of their 2019 lottery pick. Maybe 2020 first.

4.) 30 Nov 2018 22:50:11
No, no, yes, no, no.

5.) 01 Dec 2018 03:54:18
Apart from being injury prone, Tanev’s numbers are terrible this year. Should be avoided at all costs.

All the other trades have very positive elements going for them. But like everyone else, I got to say that the Dumba trade is the one I like best. Chychrun is injury prone, Faulk doesn’t have enough term, Brodie doesn’t have enough term. Again, just imo, Leafs should be loooking at young RHD on good multi-year contract. I don’t think we would be able to get Dumba, or that would have happened already. But there may be someone else available.

6.) 03 Dec 2018 12:55:46
Nylander can't get Chychrun alone.

That's a solid nope.

2.) 30 Nov 2018 05:28:31
Are you a coyote fan? If so I'd like to meet you I have never saw one In Person. I've heard they were a rare breed but they are out there. sort of like the albino moose.

3.) 30 Nov 2018 06:43:56
Still doesn’t look good enough team to win the cup.

4.) 30 Nov 2018 14:21:55
the nylander trade no, toronto would add i think. st louis trade is closer in my opinion.

5.) 30 Nov 2018 14:43:10
Plane quantity doesn't equal quality.

How bout chtyil, Hajek, 1st end 2019.

6.) 03 Dec 2018 12:56:30
Too bad that's a poor defence.

1.) 27 Nov 2018 15:21:08
So 3 sheet pieces of poo and a 1st for tarasenko.

That's a solid no try your first and ktchuck+.

2.) 27 Nov 2018 17:08:41
An aging LHD with only two years left on his contract for eight years of Nylander? Not sure if I’m seeing the value there.

3.) 27 Nov 2018 20:00:36
Gardiner>>Brodie.

4.) 27 Nov 2018 21:04:00
Takchuk alone would be too much for Tarasenko based on age and the fact that Tarasenko is a little overpaid for a 60 point player.

5.) 28 Nov 2018 01:08:24
40 goal scorer. Lol your a joke.

6.) 28 Nov 2018 12:42:23
Why would nylander sign for a couple mil less in Calgary then he's asking from Toronto? Holy snikies some people over rate what nylander will get in return on this site.

1.) 27 Nov 2018 04:59:12
Pool and a 2nd for gradiner ufa 😂😂.

2.) 27 Nov 2018 10:08:53
1) that package wouldn't get you puljujarvi
2) you have brodie on 2nd line and demers with reilly?
3) i'd think that package toronto would want at very least a 3rd in that nylander deal not a 7th.

3.) 27 Nov 2018 10:56:48
Demers is done for the season. Maybe even his career. Lol. That one is a for sure no way.

Gardiner is worth more than a bust + 2nd. Can Edmonton even afford this trade?

The Calgary trade has the most chops to it, though I personally feel Leafs Gould be targeting younger players rather than 28 year old Brodie with only 2 years left on his contract before UFA. Valimaki or Andersson maybe?

4.) 27 Nov 2018 10:57:28
Demers done for the season. Knee blown. May not be back for a long while.

Gardiner is worth more than a bust + 2nd (hard to believe sometimes, I know)

Brodie is 28 and 2 years until UFA. Leafs need someone younger with contract similar in terms to Nylander. Valimaki or Andersson maybe?

5.) 27 Nov 2018 12:31:32
Would not trade Gardiner for a huge question mark and a pick could really use him come playoff time.

6.) 27 Nov 2018 13:29:14
Question mark is fair but bust is so not true. I’d say he’s just not being developed properly, big surprise there. He’s 20 and probably should’ve been in the AHL for most if not all of his career up to this point. His first stint in the AHL points wise wasn’t the greatest but he was on a bad team and people said he was creating a lot. His last one was only 4 games yes but he had 4 points. Let him be a point a game in the AHL and see what he is next season before calling him a bust, would be my suggestion.

7.) 27 Nov 2018 15:31:27
@ebs. Completely agree. He’s such a big guy with skill, he’s just not an NHL player yet and that’s okay. But he’s being mismanaged. As leaf fans we had little to cheer for and wanted Nylander on the big club and management said he wouldn’t come up until he has a chance to dominate in the AHL. He did and was better for it. Should be a similar approach with puli.

8.) 27 Nov 2018 15:59:09
With North American kids like marner etc leafs option was to have him in the leafs or send him back to junior again, that didn’t make sense. With these European guys, you’re given such an advantage to be allowed to have them in the AHL at 18 and 19. Why not use that? They’re learning a new game, a new rink size, a new culture, often times a new language. Use every tool you have to allow them to succeed and slower hockey and a bit weaker competition is one of them to start.

9.) 27 Nov 2018 18:35:37
Agreed Jim, it seems so obvious. Why play him 5-10 minutes a night on the 3rd or 4th line when he can go succeed in the A?

10.) 27 Nov 2018 20:04:15
Oilers are very good at screwing up developing their drafts. It’s just not possible to draft so many busts like that. They rushed virtually every one of their top picks the last ten years, and look how many succeeded. Not nearly as many should have. And the ones that did actually do anything in NHL have underperformed. I don’t think it’s coincidence that Hall had his breakout year after finally being traded.

11.) 27 Nov 2018 20:11:30
Yeah. He could be first line, be the first shot option on the PP, learn to play both sides of the puck and gain a ton of confidence. Then drop him on Mcdavids line late this season or to start next year.

12.) 27 Nov 2018 21:31:29
@LeafsGM, Bouchard- sent back to juniors.
Yamamoto- finished junior and now in the AHL.
Puljujarvi- made mistakes in his development IMO but not too late.
McDavid- not underperforming.

Draisaitl- went back to junior and now he’s doing just fine. Nurse- finished his junior and maybe slightly underperforming but he’s also a D and it’s expected. Yakupov- totally blew it and even though he has zero IQ he could’ve had a good career riding shotgun with McDavid IMO.

RNH- not the high point getting 1st overall but a good player. He was too good to go back to junior.
Hall- had an 80 point season in Edmonton and was also to good for junior. How many 1st overalls go back to junior?

13.) 27 Nov 2018 22:38:01
Calling puli a bust is funny though. He’s a 4th overall from 2016. Some of the same guys I’ve seen call him a bust on this site were also commenting that Chicago did well getting strome. He was a higher pick a year earlier than puli. Saying he’s not where you thought he would be, fair. Saying bust is laughable for a 20 year old kid.

14.) 27 Nov 2018 23:04:08
Call it what you want to call it. He’s not living up to the expectation that warranted such a high draft selection, playing with some of the world’s best players. He might still come along, but at this point he’s looking more like a Crouse and either Strome than a Marner or Nylander. The same guys saying Puljujärvi isn’t a bust are the same guys who say Crouse is. Imo they are all looking like a bust to me and would not bring anywhere close to a 1st in return. How much would you be willing to give up for any of those guys?

@yupp

Klefbom sucks. Nurse will never be more than 2LHD similar to Zadorov. Yakopov was a spectacular bust. Paajarvi sucks. Gagner sucks. Petry doing ok now but sucked for a long time. Puljujärvi sucks and looking like he’s a bust. Yamamoto is so small I have a hard time seeing him doing much at NHL level. Bouchard is way too early to say.

15.) 28 Nov 2018 00:58:21
Yupp isn’t on this. I think you mean ebs.

16.) 28 Nov 2018 05:11:51
Oops. Sorry Yupp. Lol.

24 Nov 2018 18:37:24
(LHD) Olli Juolevi + (C) Adam Gaudette + 2nd Rd Pick
(C) William Nylander

Franchaise Billy

1.) 24 Nov 2018 22:42:03
Nylander will be signed this weekend or by Monday, he won't be traded.

2.) 24 Nov 2018 22:49:05
You mean THEN he will be traded.

3.) 25 Nov 2018 00:06:24
Any proposal with Vancouver right now you got to be thinking about 1st round pick. I don’t know if this package would get you Nylamder. That Juolevi kid may be a real star in the making. He alone gives this trade legs.

This is just for fun, don't take me serious. It's hypothetical.

ARI - Auston Matthews
TOR - Oliver Ekman-Larsson

1 for 1

Elite D-Man for Elite Center

Franchaise Billy

1.) 25 Oct 2018 10:47:48
Arizona adds.

2.) 25 Oct 2018 22:52:07
Arizona adds Storm and a 1st, but it still may not be enough for Matthews. The Coyotes should wait until July 1st and give Matthews a crazy offer sheet of $15 mil plus per year.

3.) 26 Oct 2018 15:57:31
If they did that, no other team would ever trade with them. Although, it would be really funny.

4.) 27 Oct 2018 19:46:57
Oel not in the top ten d in the league way would you trade a top 3 center in the league for maybe the 20 best d man.

27 Jul 2018 22:23:26
Commenting on the Hanifin to Leafs post

(Calgary Flames)
• (LD) Noah Hanifin
• (C) Mark Jankowski
(Toronto Maple Leafs)
• (C) William Nylander
• (LD) Jake Gardiner

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Nylander - Neal
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Czarnik - Ryan - Brouwer

Giordano - Brodie
Gardiner - Hamonic
Andersson - Stone

Franchaise Billy

1.) 28 Jul 2018 01:12:12
Why would CGY acquire Hanifin just to trade him a couple months later?

2.) 28 Jul 2018 15:29:31
Flames won’t be flipping him lol value wise it’s not terrible. But he’s a LD. I’m not completely against getting a lefty because any upgrade is good. But I wouldn’t make it a trade involving Nylander unless it exactly filled our need. (Top RHD)

3.) 02 Aug 2018 16:00:01
is this post serious?

jankowski and hanifin for Nylander AND gardiner?

i wouldn't trade nylander for hanafin+jankoski much less adding gardiner.

Also not moving nylander unless its for a RHD of similar age and potential. which hanafin is not.

08 Jul 2018 21:12:53
I don't see how Matthews gets 11.5 or 10.5 or anywhere close to that considering Tavares' point production is way better and he's signed at 11. I don't think he gets that much i'd say

Nylander 6M x 8YR
Marner 6M x 8YR
Matthews 8M x 8YR

Franchaise Billy

1.) 08 Jul 2018 21:42:01
Not a chance. Matthews will ask for at least 10 mil per. if he doesn't the leafs will have another problem. Cause the only reason he doesn't ask and doesn't get. At least 10 mil per is if he completely craps to bed this season.

2.) 08 Jul 2018 21:44:43
And eventhough it's a very small sample size Mathews production is right up there with tavares even better in some categories.

3.) 08 Jul 2018 21:51:49
Matthews is younger and hasn't entered his prime. And will be based both on his point production/ skill and what he projects to turn into as the #1 c ahead of tavares.

4.) 08 Jul 2018 22:27:59
Lol no on Matthews. It’s league comparisons that matter. Mcdavid got 12.5 and jack Eichel got 10. He will get between them. 8x8 is what pacioretty has asked for, 8x8 is what Phil kessel got 4 years ago, 8x8 is not even close.

And no on marner too. I would be happy as hell of Matthews took 10.5 and marner took 7.5.

5.) 08 Jul 2018 23:48:35
I hope you’re right but I don’t think so. Matthews has 132 pts in 144 games for a .92 PPG. Tavares has 150 pts in 159 games the last 2 seasons for a .94 PPG. I’m not sure where you’re getting your information from that Tavares’ point production is way better.

6.) 09 Jul 2018 00:42:26
if he doesn't put up a ppg he won't get tavares money, same for marner.

nylander should get a bridge deal, unless they sign him long term for 6mish.

7.) 09 Jul 2018 02:37:06
Well Mathews is 20 was a PPG last season and in his rookie season he beat Tavares season high goal total. Also he is much better defensively according to obscure personal visual observational comparisons and professionally used advanced statistics. He’s worth atleast Tavares he brought the leafs farther then Tavares brought the Islanders in 2 seasons. If E. Kane and JVR are worth 7 mil Marner is definitely worth more.

But I hope you’re right.

8.) 09 Jul 2018 06:32:59
I think the fact that Matthews, Nylander and Marner are rfas might have a small factor into their new deals. Also Mcdavid and eichel are being paid to be the face of the franchise and to lead them to a better future, Mathews, Marner and Nylander don’t have to be the face of the franchise, I think they’ll just play hockey, produce well and let Tavares take the spotlight for at least this upcoming season, my gut feeling is that because both Marner and Matthews made an appearance to the Tavares pitch, they are willing to take a small discount but for less years so when the cal rises they then can get paid big time and long term, my guess is Matthews 9 million for 5 years, Marner 6.5 for 5 years and Nylander is a wild card so maybe he sign for a extra years cause he’s been there the longest but he gets paid his worth at 6.25 million which is pastrnk money.

9.) 09 Jul 2018 18:36:27
@A099 the leafs are probably going to pay Mathews to be the “LONG TERM” face of the franchise. They’ll definitely look to sign him and probably Marner long term.

10.) 09 Jul 2018 22:59:26
You’re probably right but they do have 15+ years left to play in this league so honestly a 5 year dea right now does make some sense as they are looking to be a contender for Atleast the next 6-8 years so why not take a little less years maybe add a couple free agents with the money saved to fill out they’re weaknesses and in 5 years when they hoekfully win a cup or cap is above 100 million, then they sign long term 8 year deals that’ll run till they’re 33-34 years old.

11.) 10 Jul 2018 16:50:55
No one knows how long their career is going to be. These guys want the term for security more often than not. They want to make as much as they can, when they can because injuries Do happen, especially with the info out on concussions these days. Imagine if Nathan Horton or David Clarkson didn’t cash in for all they could get when given the opportunity. They’re retirement and families security in the future would look a lot different.

04 Jul 2018 12:58:42
Flames look weak so i tweaked their roster a bit.

To Flames
• (2019) 6th-Round Pick
To Coyotes
• (RW) Troy Brouwer
• (D) Oliver Kylington
• (2019) 3rd-Round Pick

To Flames
• (2019) 3rd-Round Pick
To Canadiens
• (D) Michael Stone

Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Jankowski - Lindholm
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Czarnik - Ryan - Quine

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Andersson - Healey

(Bennett, Neal, Tkachuk, Quine, Hamonic, Healey) grit players who also have skill.

Franchaise Billy

04 Jul 2018 12:16:11
The leafs are going to be super good with

Tavares - Marner
Matthews - Nylander

Jeez, they still need defence though. Without touching those 4, what are good options?

Jason Demers, Brandon Montour, Cody Ceci, Jonas Brodin, Travis Hamonic, Chris Tanev?

Franchaise Billy

1.) 04 Jul 2018 12:28:45
Out of those 6 Tanev is probably the best fit but Brodin is the best player.
