Penguins early season moves
Pens need to go back to their system of stacking up at centre and Big Joe wants out of San Jose to win a cup.
TO SJS: Sutter, Scuderi, 2nd 2015, 2nd 2016

This is similar to what VAN got for Kesler, and he is younger and signed to a better contract.

3.) Actually Thornton said he would accept a trade to a condender. Pittsburgh certainly falls into that category, but with his vision and passing ability he belongs at center which is a problem because same goes for Sid and Geno and I just can't see Joe playing 3rd line center. Geno or Joe would have to play wing.
4.) Thorton said he will only go to Chicago, LA, or Anehiem and I don't think Pitt is even at the top of his list. Especially with what they've done this offseason.
5.) Ill give up a 2nd round pick for Dupuis anytime

Everybody who follows pittsburgh knows that they made a step in the right direction by strengthening their bottom six. But their last addition of Carcillo after hopefully a great preseason would put the icing on the cake!

Invite Dustin Penner to camp.
If he does well then he would be on the top pairing with Kunitz-Crosby, otherwise we place Kapanen there.
Keep in mind that Mike Johnston stated that Derrick Pouliot, although a full two weeks behind Maata in recovery, will most likely be ready for training camp. Therefore, they will both be ready for puck drop on Oct. 9 vs ANA.

The pens will be a much more physical team this year who will be willing to give the body.
Mike is a coach who can make decisions on the fly and adjust his lines mid game in order to take advantage of certain situations.
Im guessing that they go 55-20-7. They have built a team that will survive even if they are hit with a plague of injuries.

I would say that this is even, this is similar value that the pens got for Staal. Sutter had not proven himself then, Harrington has more value than dumoulin did, and the pick is worse because of the reasons above.

4.) Who replaces Sutter on the 3rd line? If they get Pavelski, he would probably play winger on Crosby or Malkin's line. They'd be foolish to play him on the 3rd.

6.) Pavelski is the most underrated player in the NHL.
HE SCORED 40 LAST YEAR
He won't be traded for a slightly above average third line center, a good prospect and a second round pick.
Not to mention he can play wing or center, a power play player, and fantastic penalty killer?
He is also fairly young. He is a part of San Jose's future and when San Jose wins the cup he will be a key piece for that team.

Options for the Penguins:
Get young players who can make an impact in the top six. EXACTLY like Chi town with Saad!
Bennett in my honest opinion is too fragile and not capable to play top line minutes

The more I am watching Rutherfurd, the more I am wishing we never fired Shero.
He would have gotten SO MUCH MORE for Nealer and he would have resigned Niskanen.
Bylsma's time in pittsburgh was up and I love the new coach (from what he has done for Portland Winterhawks) but Shero>Rutherfurd.
1.) Rutherford has always done some wierd things
His winning the cup for Hurricanes make him something special.

The Defense is young, however these guys are above average. Depres was ready to play a few years ago however Disco Dan wanted to keep the old guys!
In the latest NHL Mock Draft, they have Nylander going 10th overall, so it is realistic.
Miller may WANT more than 2 yrs, but he will not get it. He has to adjust his "wants" to fit the market!
Shneider is a year younger. So that is not unrealistic, and Fleury is better than Shneider. Who has a cup and a Gold to their name?
I agree that WPG may want more, however Kane is NOT the right fit for them. Neal is coming off of 3 great regular seasons.
LA DOES need defence, they are losing several to Free Agency and they announced that they wanted more of a veteran presence even though they won the ultimate prize.
