Chia should indeed take the lions share of the blame but it's not only his fault. Other members of oilers management must have agreed or he would have been fired before this year.

4 a week I've been saying how happy I am on different forums that we finally fired Chiarelli because we all know the blunders of his tenure but now I see confirmation of a Larry Brooks piece that he backed out of a deal at the 16 draft for Ryan McDunnagh -spelling? - we were getting him for the fourth OVR pick until POOL fell to 4th and Chiarelli felt he hit the jackpot and cancelled the trade. Of all the bad things we know he did I’m starting to think there’s way more we will never learn about. It’s to the point now that I don’t want anyone who had a say in his hiring involved in hiring his replacement. Fire them all. The insane are running the asylum. Leafs, jets, jackets all passed on POOL and the rangers wanted the pick to take Clayton Keller showing that all these GMs and staffs knew something we never picked up on. If this trade happened, Would POOL have gone 5th? 6? 7? Would he have been the Grigorenko of his draft and fallen to 12th if we didn’t step up to take the bullet for the rest of the league again? Stop the incompetence and fire them all. Imagine the last 3 years of having Mcdavid with mcDOnagh, Hall or others. This group has wasted 15% of the best player on the planets career and it will take another 15% to correct it. It’s a crime to hockey. That’s my rant for the day, don’t forget to tip your waitress. Oilers SCF2023.

Fact is the problems began long before mcdavid and chirelli were there. the right Gm could turn things around though if he's given total control. If they hire a guy to be a hand puppet then things won't get any better. i hope they get someone who is not afraid to turn some heads.

2.) 29 Jan 2019 19:20:41
It’s the same people though. Fire them all. Craig Mactavish, Kevin Lowe and their group Have been here for the entire mess and just keep switching desks and titles to avoid the real problem. They have each been in a coaching role or GM and then Vice Presidents and hockey operations and ceo and player development. They are the constant in the organization, along with Katz by you can’t fire an owner. He’s the big cheese. Those other guys Swapping seats at the table has done nothing but prolong the mess and they need to all go. Then get someone with a brain atvthe helm and everything goes through him. I’ve been so jealous of Tampa and Toronto and the way they got smart people in at the top and succeeded. No reason we can’t. That’s what is needed but I have no faith in Nicholson to do it.

3.) 29 Jan 2019 20:37:58
Drafting is the key the leafs had a few years with top picks in real good drafts which they did well in. Didn't need to be a great hockey mind to pick a few of them. Tampa has got gems in later rounds which is either complete luck or great work by their scouting staff. Edmonton had a 3 year span with the 1st overall pick each year and they have a 2nd line center and a 2nd pair dman to show for it. the amount of talent in a couple of those years were not on par with some other great drafts but still. Below average drafting and poor asset management goes back 20 years. And to make matters worse they are tight against the cap with very little wiggle room. they need a guy to come in and stick to his Guns and tank for another two years and this time build it the right way. Hextall could be an option I would consider.

4.) 30 Jan 2019 14:12:31
Drafting has been horrendous, you’ve got that right. I say everyone from this group goes including scouts managers advisors because they have all been part of a disgraceful handling of what should be a great team and the best player in the world. But if the people hiring our next management team are the same people who hired the last two teams and have let the group from fifteen years ago keep their jobs through it all then what is really changing? I’m so fed up. Keep Gretzky as an ambassador because you will never find a better one, and everyone else that wears a suit in our organization can take a hike for all I care. I like your Hextall idea, he seems like a smart and calculated guy and I don’t think anything can be worse than what’s leaving anyway. He preaches patience, but got fired from the flyers for being too patient and I also fear if it’s a complete four year bottom out rebuild then Mcdavid could lose his passion here. Then you have committed the ultimate crime to the sport. Chiarelli has left us in a worse spot than I could ever imagine. It’s almost a screwed of we do, screwed if we don’t.

Kapanen has the speed and skill to be a great linemate for mcdavid. Just heard that he has the most goals in the whole league for any player without a powerplay goal. If we put him with Connor and some pp time he would be a 30 goal man easily. I would make that trade for sure. We have surrounded the fastest player on the planet with guys that can’t keep up with him. This guy would be able too. Not many have that speed and a lot of the guys with that speed don’t have the skill to finish, they’re more of penalty killers and checkers. And the Ottawa one is a lot of nothing besides the 1st rounder. Doesn’t seem bad for us.

I’m happy shipping poolparty out for anything resembling value. He was already supposed to be McDonagh, that ship sailed. Let’s maximize what’s left. It’s safe to say he’s not the star we hoped. He may be a decent player down the road. But He still has a bit of that top 5 pedigree and name right now so trade him while someone else still believes he has a chance. Get 2-3 lesser known or lesser hyped pieces and hope they hit. There’s guys in other teams systems picked in the 2nd and 3rd round that could become better players than him but aren’t valued like him yet. If we had the staff in place to do it, we could identify a couple of them and increase the odds of hitting. He’s just the final reminder of the disasterous Peter Years.

Isn’t Juulsen out with a severe vision injury that a couple weeks ago was being called career threatening? Why would flyers trade cost controlled player for one unproven and one who may never be the same? If juulsen comes back and picks up the progress he was making, it could be revisited but as it is Flyers would get better offers.

How do you add stone to Colorado’s top line? They already have 3 players on it. That’s why it’s a line. And it’s the best one out there. Colorado will not give them back their pick. Why would they?
And we won’t give you Bouchard or our 1st for that.
And why is panarin a very possible return to Chitown? All I’ve heard is he was really hurt the hawks traded him to begin with and is set on a New York team or Florida.
Vancouver just used a top 5 pick on Hughes and they’re trending upwards. Why would they gift him to the senators for the later of 2 picks?
Are all your posts like this? Or are you having an off day?

Russians love Miami and money. Darren dregar said panthers will pursue panarin and bobrovsky in July, I could see that but not paying this to get him early and miss playoffs anyway.

I’m not a believer in poolparty as I have said. he may turn into something decent but asking another team to take him and give a far better young player while paying almost half his salary for us just isn’t going to happen. I didn’t say I don’t want it to happen. I said leafs would say no. Nylander makes less than $7 mln I think so Why would they pay $3mln of that when they’re capped out for him to play for us? Makes zero sense.

No. Get rid of him with everyone else. Anyone that had a say in the hiring of peter and any of the moves he made has to go. Anyone that was an advisor or an assistant while peter destroyed a team that was one of the most promising squads in the league when he arrived should have gone with him the day he left. There’s a few options to look at. But not Keith. I can’t believe that we fired McClellan and then made it public that Chiarelli could keep his job if we made the playoffs. Who does that? That’s just asking for him to mortgage the future again and set us further back for short term gain to saves his own ass. Then it took 2 months to see that’s what would happen and had to fire him before the deadline to save us from ourselves. Need a new group right from the top.

Gibson is the only reason Carlyle had a job till last week and the only reason they aren’t a lock for the best lottery odds. He has been simply amazing for 95% of the season on a largely underperforming team. He had a rough stretch after the ASG but they aren’t moving him.

no from oilers
No from senators
No from kings
No from leafs and can’t retain salary for a single year. Has to be full length of deal and no way they do that.

Just seen that he is -15, next worst on his team is -6 and that’s jack Roslovic, and heard he has 1 goal and 3 assists since December in 15 games. Jets have scored 4 goals 4 times, 5 goals twice, 7 goals once and 9 goals once and only been shut out once in that stretch so it’s not like he struggled with the team. He disappeared on his own and is so one dimensional that when he’s not scoring he’s just wasted icetime taken away from someone else. Could be good for the jets if they sign him cheaper because of it but they need him in the playoffs to be a threat. If he keeps struggling and the offers are low he should take a one year because he’s capable of hitting 40+ again and then cash in.
