Flyers:

- Johnathan Drouin

Lightning:

- Shayne Gostisbehere

============
Lightning need a puck moving defenceman
Flyers need a scorer.
Flyers can also fill Gost's position with Hagg/Morin/Sanheim.
Both RFA's.

1.) 19 May 2017 05:47:41
Makes sense for flyers I think that's an easy trade for them but that's going to be tough for Tampa.

2.) 19 May 2017 05:51:21
Flyers add.

3.) 19 May 2017 16:19:14
right idea for both teams but I agree flyers have to add. I have no doubt about drouins abilities. Anyone who puts down the way he plays most likely just doesn't like his off ice antics last season. He will be a real game breaker wherever he ends up. I'm not sold on ghost. Is he a really good player that had a tough sophomore season like a lot of young players do? Or was the rookie year the anomoly and he's a below average NHLer? I wouldn't be giving up drouin to get the answer.

4.) 20 May 2017 04:02:02
Ghost sophomore slump isn't as bad as people say, as a puck moving point producing D in his secong yeah he scored 7 and 39 points. Depends on Ghosts next contract this could be even, sign him for little less then 4 then it's even.

Prospect War:

Ethan Bear vs Caleb Jones

Jakub Zboril vs Jake Bean

Olli Juolevi vs Mikhail Sergachev

Taylor Raddysh vs Alex DeBrincat

TB4

1.) 18 May 2017 23:43:13
Jones
Bean
Sergachev
Debrincat.

2.) 19 May 2017 00:21:53
Like what tho hahaha.

Bear
Zboril
Serg
Raddy.

3.) 19 May 2017 10:31:40
Everyone one the right side.

4.) 19 May 2017 13:57:25
Jones is a good prospect. But Ethan Bear just put up 70 points in 67 games and was the WHL D man of the year. Also over a point per game in the playoffs and helped his Seatle team to the Memorial cup now. 65 points in 69 games the season before. Hopefully can translate to the Oilers in 2 or 3 years now. Seems like an offensively gifted RHD!

5.) 19 May 2017 15:13:37
Bear was voted WHL Dman of the year. Easy Bear pickin'
Beanerz. kick you in the face. all the way!

Joulevi's a bust and a wasted a #5 pick.
#5/ 6 D man someday when he grows up. Easy EASY pick Sergenchev.

No clue who the last one is.

6.) 19 May 2017 16:29:12
@Fair Trade4all; you're really going to call Juolevi a bust after 1 year? It's not like his draft +1 was even bad. Do you have any reasoning to believe he'll only be a bottom pairing guy?

7.) 19 May 2017 17:42:49
Nucker.
I know a lot of Van fans are defensive on this issue.
I couldn't believe they passed on Tkachuk.

But.
I had a vesting interest in Joulevi as some of the scouts rated him as the top D man in the draft, and the Oilers, Canucks, Flames were slotted to be picking in the area that he was maybe going to be drafted.
I watched all his games at the Memorial cup in Red Deer because of my interest in him. His points totals were inflated a lot due to the over agers on the Knights team playing together in Dvorek and Marner. Tkachuk as a draft eligible part of that line overwhelmed the rest of the JR players that year and Joulevi's point totals were mostly due to them.

Joulevi was not big enough for the type of D-man needed in today's NHL. Instead of using his body to angle off attacking players he made a half hearted stick swinging type poke checks that rarely resulted in success. This poke check style means he'd get eaten up by the NHL'ers. He does not have a good shot from the point like Sergachev, He was unable to push people out of the way in front of the net, and he constantly lost puck battles along the boards to JR players his age. His first pass out of the zone was off the mark more than not.

I am sorry, but after watching him play I just don't see him being an impact NHL D-man. There is of course that small chance he could develop, but the risk at taking him at 5 when Tkachuk was there was a bad pick. I'd say he would be a better project pic at perhaps 15-20 . NOT a #5 pick.

8.) 19 May 2017 22:39:00
I know you're a troll FTFA but if Joulevi is a bust then it should be fair to say Puljujarvi is too right? And Eberle is a 70 point elite forward, RNH is an amazing two way C and Talbot best goalie in the league, right? I Aagree the pick doesn't look good when Tkachuk gets taken by a division rival and lights it up in his rookie season. I still think Joulevi will be a decent 2/ 3 good #4. I never thought he was a number 1, but atleast a solid top 4. Give the guy time, he's still like 180lbs lol.

Boston Bruins:

- Jake Bean

Carolina Hurricanes:

- Jake DeBrusk

======

With Slavin, Pesce, Faulk , Hanifin and Fleury Jake Bean falls out of favour in Carolina.

Carolina needs better forward prospects and get a pretty good one with DeBrusk. He already had his first pro season in the AHL and did well for a 20 year old.

TB4

1.) 18 May 2017 15:04:48
Definitely makes sense. Good trade.

2.) 18 May 2017 16:41:16
Good call. Trade seems quite fair. prospect for prospect.

Carolina sure does have some good young D coming.
Maybe they can swing a deal with Vancouver, Bean for Virtanen or something like that. At least the Nucks would get 1 good D-man from the 2016 draft.

3.) 18 May 2017 20:47:10
@FT4A

I think Vancouver should focus on getting good forwards. Eriksson is doing nothing and Sedin's are already heavily declining.

18 May 2017 07:01:33
Carolina:

- Matt Duchene (C/LW)

Colorado:

- Justin Faulk (D)

=============================

Colorado needs defence.
Carolina needs more offence.

TB4

1.) 19 May 2017 00:12:52
I think more value needs to be thrown in from both teams but other than that, its a pretty solid base trade.

Idea:

How do you guys value Dylan Strome? Since Montreal needs a scoring centre would something like Sergachev + work for Arizona?

And Montreal sticks with Galchenyuk until Strome can take over.

TB4

1.) 20 May 2017 23:18:15
I would value sergachev more. Not to say strome is going to be a bust or anything but I think sergachev has more value at this point.

2.) 21 May 2017 00:33:06
I value Sergachev more than Strome straight up.
But more than a little too.

3.) 21 May 2017 09:35:15
Agreed Strome has been etreamly underwhelming. Not sure if he comes top 10 in a re draft.

4.) 21 May 2017 14:07:24
You guys understand that if an NHL club take a player from their junior club (CHL) before they age out it cost them $40,000 minume. Arizona is too cheap to pay Erie for Strome. I believe that has a lot to do why Strome is still in Junior.

2011 NHL Draft Under-Performers/Busts:

Duncan Siemens (11th overall)
Ryan Strome (5th overall)
Ryan Murphy (12th overall)
Joel Armia (16th overall)
Nathan Beaulieu (17th overall)
Mark McNeill (18th overall)
Nicklas Jensen (29th overall)
Phillip Danault (26th overall)
Stuart Percy (25th overall)
Matt Puempel (24th overall)
Tyler Biggs (22nd overall)
Stefan Noesen (21st overall)
Zack Phillips (28th overall)
Sven Baertschi (13th overall)
Jame Oleksiak (14th overall)
Joseph Morrow (23rd overall)

========
16/30 players selected in the first round under-performed or are bust.

Comment if you disagree, i'd love an argument.

13/30 players are no longer on their original teams. Did I miss anyone?

TB4

1.) 18 May 2017 15:59:22
I'd argue Danault is doing alright as a 26th overall pick.

2.) 18 May 2017 17:28:07
agree w. drais about danualt.

i also think beaulieu turned out decent for 17th ovrl.

3.) 18 May 2017 19:03:32
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (1st overall)

4.) 18 May 2017 20:38:40
Okay BJ, Landeskogs 33 point season should definitely keep him off the list I guess.

5.) 18 May 2017 20:45:22
@Draisaitl

Would you?
Did absolutely nothing for Chicago and hit the 40 point mark once. Even Paul Byron hit the 40 point mark last season. That doesn't prove that he is going to hit the 40 points every season. Eberle had a 70 point season. It's stupid to value him as a 70 point forward because of one season.

6.) 18 May 2017 20:47:45
@Hotguybabes

Yes.

7.) 19 May 2017 07:11:48
40 points is alright and he's still somewhat young. Took the chance he got in Montreal, which he didn't in Chicago.
Also got to factor in where he was taken. He'd be closer to a bust if he'd be taken in the top 10, but if you pick someone 26th overall, you don't necessarily expect a point per game player. So at the end of the day, a team won't be thrilled, but also won't complain if they get a solid Middle 6 guy capable of putting up 30-50 points a year with a late 1st rounder.

8.) 19 May 2017 10:30:36
I don't think that strome was used properly on the islanders. He's a centerman and they forced him on the wing where he clearly wasn't in his comfort zone. Not saying that he shoulda went 5th but still think in the right circumstances he coulda worked out much better than he has.

@madeindade28

Oh yes, a 6'2 213lbs veteran forward that is still young and scores 60 points a season with crappy non-scoring linemates is over-rated.

And a 30 goal scorer is also, extremely over-rated at only 23 years old.

And obviously, a guy who had one good season is more valuable then all of these guys combined.

** disregard my previous reply.

And how would we make the change? Have no draft for a year?

I don't think it will matter that much to go through such a big change. Not worth it.

I think Patrick is also better than PLD.

And. I believe Keller is better that Pierre-Luc Dubois offensively.
