Jack Jonson for strome and russel
If blue jackets think strome can play a depth centre role and use russel as a replacement body on blue line.
If not then jack Jonson for sekera
Oilers just looking to balance out the blue line between left and right handed players. If they play hard ball and not interested don’t over invest into Jonson and walk away.

Do you have Jack and Erik Johnson confused? Jack's a lefty like Sekera and Russell.

2.) 15 Jan 2018 16:49:20
Lmao clearly has them confused and ya let’s totally trade players under contract for a UFA lol . no from Edmonton unless chiarelli really wants to unload some contracts.

3.) 15 Jan 2018 19:22:08
My mistake if he’s a lefty thought was right handed. Deal wasn’t for any expiring ufa contracts tho Russell has term remaining also strome is an rfa at season end.

Oilers trade: nuge, sekera,
Montreal trades: Gallagher, weber.
Oilers need a top 6 RW that shoots right. Habs would get a huge upgrade down the middle. Sekera is a very good effective top 4 defenseman while straight up isn’t worth weber but oilers could desperately use that bomb and the value difference between the defense should be made up by the forward swap. The financial value going both ways are nearly equal. For everyone involved there is a cost certinanty for multiple seasons.

This is interesting but ehhhhh.

2.) 12 Jan 2018 11:23:52
Does Edmonton really want Webers huge contract though? In 2-3 years its going to be absolutely awful.

3.) 12 Jan 2018 13:50:41
I don't want anything to do with Webers contract.

4.) 12 Jan 2018 17:57:34
Id hate to see Gallagher go, but if it means we lose Webers contract, hell Ya! . And I like Weber, but as TSS said, 2 to 3 years. that contract is really going to be bad .

pit - Letang
Oilers- take your pick of rentals for a run at 3 straight cups.
Maroon, letestu, strome, shlep, Drake, plenty of choices. Letang I find tough to gauge a trade value on because he is extremely talented but does carry a massive cap hit with a long history of injuries which is why I wouldn’t be offering any significant future assets like draft picks in top 3 rounds or the better half of prospect pool.
Nurse Letang
Klefboom larsson
Davidson benning

Sekera and Russell then be flipped in gamble like trades for cheap short term contract wingers. The wings are in such bad shape just plugging holes until benson, Yamamoto so on are ready.

I love Letang as an offensive RHD. $7.25M for 4 more years after this one. I'm torn but ultimately I think I would stay away from that contract.
Unless Sekera and Russell could be traded with not much $ coming back in those deals but I just don't see all that happening. Lots on NTC clauses going on there, too many moving parts. Ideally I would add a little to any package for Pitts to retain something. Kinda like how Toronto is retaining $1.2M of Kessel for the next 4 years after this one. I've thought lots about if I want Letang or not. Also his health is questionable. I'm on the fence. Lol.

2.) 17 Jan 2018 23:16:13
Personally I’d take Letang and his contract anytime. If Russel was part of the deal that’d be perfect IMO. Would probably take a lot to get him though.

3.) 18 Jan 2018 03:05:32
If he was say $6.25M per season and there was some kinda of assurance that he would play almost every game the next 4 seasons, maybe miss a total of like 25-30 or something games, Then I wouldn't be hesitant.
But for $7.25M and his injury last is in question, I am hesitant.
Zero hesitation about his skill set he would bring to the team tho, I've always been a big Letang fan.

4.) 18 Jan 2018 16:20:35
Edmonton can't afford Letang.
Next year they will be too close to the cap so adding that Salary would put them over.

5.) 18 Jan 2018 17:16:38
They could fit him actually. If Sekera or Russell was part of the deal with some rentals as the original post says. But they wouldn't be able to upgrade a top six winger. They would probably trade Nuge to upgrade a top six winger, maroons spot.

If patch had 3-4 years at his cap hit left then this is completely different deal and possible.

I’d take that deal from oilers side all day long.

I really like this deal. It’s a realistic mid season tweeker trade that could end up causing a spark in both line ups.
