Woods

1.) 11 Apr 2021 22:44:19
They should of done this instead of trading they’re first round pick for Nic Foligno.

Woods

1.) 22 Mar 2021 11:42:01
This puts the leafs over the cap salary would need to be retained.

2.) 22 Mar 2021 14:44:16
Not to mention that’s an easy no from Arizona.

3.) 22 Mar 2021 18:19:31
I agree with Ebsolutely, tho Andersen is much better and younger than Raanta imo (tho he’s not really playing like it rn), Garland should never be included in a trade by Arizona. He’s young and just starting to breakout. Arizona needs to acquire some draft capital one way or another but trading Garland is not the way to do it.

To Tor: Christian Dvorak, 4th
To Ari: Jake Gardiner

Gives Arizona the D man they are looking for that has top 4 potential and could produce in a change of scenery

Gives Toronto another highly skilled forward prospect that can play with top prospect Mitch Marner. Also another mid round draft pick

Toronto has the motivation to do this deal because TJ Brennan can step right into gardiners role (17 pts in 19games in AHL) because of how incredibly impressive he's been and makes Gardiner expendable+ gets more prospects for their rebuild

Thoughts?

Woods

1.) 30 Nov 2015 01:03:52
Not enough for gardiner, maybe change to a second round pick.

2.) 30 Nov 2015 01:22:41
That's very enticing with how good Dvorak is doing but the leafs would probably want at least a 3rd in return as well.

3.) 30 Nov 2015 01:35:11
I really don't know much about Dvorak to make a statement, honestly seems kinda low but then again don't know much about Dvorak like I said.

4.) 30 Nov 2015 02:17:20
Not bad but make the pick a 2nd.

5.) 30 Nov 2015 08:41:01
Um, read a bit about Dvorak and you'll quickly recognize that it's the Leafs adding a 2nd round pick - at least.

6.) 30 Nov 2015 14:19:21
No one wants Gardiner. I wouldn't move a promising young player like Dvorak for him.

7.) 30 Nov 2015 14:40:09
Haha @Drais really? I mean he good but I don't feel like his production would be nearly as high if he wasn't playing with Marner or Tkachuk.

8.) 30 Nov 2015 16:47:48
people get wayyyy too high on prospects, the worst is of those still in juniors. scoring above a point a game there doesn't mean much, rich clune scored over a point a game in his age 19 season in the O. don't get me wrong, producing there is a good, and essentially necessary, stepping stone, but its far from a guarantee of anything beyond an elc if he hasn't already gotten one.

06 Jun 2015 17:19:37
To Det: Roman Polak, 24th overall
To TML: 19th overall, 3rd 15' or 16 (Det choice)

Det needs a Polak on the back end with a right and shot who is a leader on and off the ice who will throw his body. Leafs need draft picks and move up 5 spots to solidify taking another top 20 talent and hopefully select one of Merkley, Boeser or Zboril

Woods

1.) 06 Jun 2015 17:26:37
If you think Roman Polak earns a 5 position jump in a draft like this, you're out to lunch. Detroit would only do it if they knew the player they wanted wouldn't be getting picked before 24th.

2.) 06 Jun 2015 18:28:49
Unreal

3.) 06 Jun 2015 20:09:58
Why does everyone think polak is like phaneuf value?

4.) 06 Jun 2015 20:42:37
why does everyone think polak is worth nothign? he's pretty much the same player as orpik, whom was just given 5.5 mil by WSH last year.

5.) 06 Jun 2015 20:59:51
That's ridiculous, Polak is a depth defenseman.

In any case, look at the trade.
Polak for a 3rd. I suppose that's about what he is worth.
That means its 19th overall for 24th overall.
Where is the incentive for Detroit? It's dumb.

6.) 07 Jun 2015 02:47:57
Lol Shankar orpik is one of the best defensive defensemen out there, he's gritty and yeah overpayed but polak is not orpik value, to Washington at least

7.) 07 Jun 2015 03:10:41
Yes polak is a joke! I rather have brook then polak

My NHL Mock Draft. This is not a ranking, it is what I believe each GM will do so there may be some players falling or rising depending on GM or team need. This is as if NO TRADES happen between now and the draft (Which is unlikely but for the sake of it. ) Let me know your thoughts and questions!

1) NYR: Alexis Lafreniere
2) LA: Quinton Byfield
3) OTT: Tim Stutzle
4) DET: Marco Rossi
5) OTT: Jamie Drysdale
6) ANA: Jake Sanderson
7) NJ: Alexander Holtz
8) BUF: Lucas Raymond
9) MIN: Cole Perfetti
10) WPG: Anton Lundell
11) NSH: Jack Quinn
12) FLA: Braden Schneider
13) CAR: Yaroslav Askarov
14) EDM: Rodion Amirov
15) TOR: Dawson Mercer
16) MTL: Noel Gunler
17) CHI: Lucas Reichel
18) NJD: Kaiden Guhle
19) CGY: Mavrik Bourque
20) NJD: Dylan Holloway
21) CBJ: Seth Jarvis
22) NYR: Jacob Perrault
23) PHI: Ridly Greig
24) COL: Helge Grans
25) WSH: Connor Zary
26) STL: Hendrix Lapierre
27) ANA: John-Jason Peters
28) OTT: Marat Khusnutdinov
29) LV: Justin Barron
30) DAL: Jake Neighbours
31) SJ: Tyson Foerster

I have reasoning for each of my picks so let me know your thoughts!

Woods

1.) 19 Sep 2020 17:27:30
Pretty good list imo.

2.) 19 Sep 2020 19:42:38
Why would Anaheim have any interest of reaching for a LHD when that’s their deepest position on their roster? Dawson Mercer to leafs also doesn’t make sense to me. I think that pick is moved if Askarov doesn’t fall.

3.) 19 Sep 2020 20:15:06
@Nylander ANA is deep on the left with Lindholm and Fowler. But with Manson on the trading block and Lindholms ability to play the right side, I believe they go for a Dman because their prospect pool is so forward loaded.

Mercer to TML is to make up for the loss of Kapanen with more consistent defence and solid secondary scoring. Also one of the most NHL ready in the draft so he can step in sooner than later in the leafs window to compete. Low risk and cost efficient.

4.) 19 Sep 2020 20:28:43
Sanderson is not really a reach at 6th.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 00:06:55
Yah I’d be okay with Mercer at 15th just very vanilla obviously Sanderson isn’t a huge reach but I’d rather take a centre if I were the ducks. A, He’s not the best player available and B. Left side defence is solid with Flower, Lindholm, Larsson, and a few other solid prospects.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 19:12:26
Perfetti would probably be a better choice for Anaheim yes.

7.) 21 Sep 2020 01:18:29
Really like your list. Especially the Askarov pick from Carolina, totally believable.

8.) 21 Sep 2020 09:41:13
Reasoning for LA taking Byfield over Stutzle?

9.) 21 Sep 2020 20:34:55
I believe blues will go ofter Wallander or baron.

10.) 04 Oct 2020 12:50:27
Who's Marat Khusnutdinov? Is he any good?

20 May 2017 05:44:10
Don't underestimate Bennett, he has some of the most potential of any young guns in the league.

Woods

1.) 20 May 2017 10:30:51
Ya Beau Bennett could still become a decent bottom 6 forward.

2.) 20 May 2017 17:17:52
Hahaha. I thought of Beau right away too BJ. Lol.

06 Jun 2015 16:50:09
There are 4 very solid goalie prospects in this years draft ( Samsonov, Blackwood, Tomek, Booth). If I were the leafs I would push hard to draft one of these with their third round pick and hopefully get a future solid starter. It would most likely be either Booth or maybe Tomek if he drops at that point in the draft but if they wanna truly get an upgrade, I would trade reimer, low level prospect to winnepeg for their 2nd rounder and select Blackwood. Thoughts?

Woods

1.) 07 Jun 2015 00:57:10
WPG has no need for Reimer

2.) 07 Jun 2015 09:23:19
How is Reimer any better than Pavelec or even Hutchinson? They got Hellebuyck up and coming, their future starter.

27 Apr 2015 12:47:09
Leafs should NOT take Marner in the draft. It's no knock on him. But they drafted nylander last year who is similar size with a similar play. Whoever Arizona doesn't pick between strome/Hanifin should be the leafs pick. And if it's true that Arizona does want Marner to be with domi, then the leafs are in a great poisition

Woods

21 Jun 2014 20:05:27
I see bolland being a potential predator or oiler if the leafs don't resign him which I would rather them not. 10mil approx is a lot to spend on 2 mediocre centres in bozak and bolland

Woods

1.) You say mediocre

i say defensively responsible

not everyone can be datsuyk, toews kopitar or bergeron dude.

2.) Anaheim:
Getzlaf: $8.25
Koivu: $2.5
= $10.755

Boston
Krejci $5.25
Bergeron $6.5
= $11.755

Buffalo
Hodgson $4.25
Girgensons $0.894 (Entry level contract)
= $5.144

Calgary
Stajan $3.125
Monahan $0.925 (Entry level contract)
= $4.05

Carolina
E. Staal $8.25
J. Staal $6.00
= $14.25

Chicago
Toews $6.3
Shaw $2.0
= $8.3

Colorado
Duchene $6.0
Stastny $6.6
= $12.6

Columbus
Johansen $0.810 (Entry level contract)
Dubinsky $4.20
= $5.01

Dallas
Seguin $5.75
Horcoff $5.5
= $11.25

Detroit
Datsyuk $7.5
Weiss $4.9
= $12.4

Edmonton
Nugent-Hopkins $6.0
Gagner $4.8
= $10.8

Florida
Huberdeau $0.894 (Entry level contract)
Barkov $0.925 (Entry level contract)
= $1.819

LA
Kopitar $ 6.80
Carter $5.272
= $12.072

Minnesota
Koivu $6.75
Granlund $0.900 (Entry level contract)
= $7.65

Montreal
Desharnais $3.5
Plekanec $5.0
= $8.5

Nashville
Fisher $4.2
Wilson $2.0
= $6.2

New Jersey
Zajac $5.75
Henrique $4.0
= $9.75

Islanders
Tavares $5.5
Nielsen $2.75
= $8.25

Rangers
Was Richards $6.67
Stepan $4.25
= $10.92

Ottawa
Spezza $7.0
Turris $3.5
= $10.5

Philly
Giroux $8.25
Lecavalier $4.5
= $12.75

Phoenix
Ribeiro $5.5
Vermette $3.75
= $9.25

Pittsburgh
Crosby $8.7
Malkin $9.5
= $18.2

San Jose
Thornton $6.75
Couture $6.0
= $12.75

St. Louis
Backes $4.5
Berglund $3.25
= $7.75

Tampa
Stamkos $7.5
Filppula $5.0
= $12.5

Vancouver
H.Sedin $6.1
Kesler $5.0
= $11.1

Washington
Backstrom $6.7
Grabovski $3.0
= $9.7

Winnipeg
Little $4.7
Jokinen $4.5
= $9.2

The average to spend on the top two centers is $9.839. Considering a lot of these players signed theses contracts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 years ago, spending $10million is actually pretty reasonable.

3.) Yea but boland really isn't a 2nd line center he's a beast 3rdline one but I don't think he would be good enough for offensive 2nd line all year he could easly move up to 2nd if there's injurys but I think they should get him for around 3. 5-4 mill max if he wants more let him walk use holland at 3rd line center and give kadri another year at 2ndline see how he does

4.) @titties
1)that mustve taken a long time to figure out
2)good mathematics
3)if bolland and bozak are their top two centres that they are going to pay to be their top two centres, there is a problem with management, if they had a real

5.) ^if they had a true #1 centre then i'd be ok with 10 mil+ not with a 2nd and 3rd centre though

I like them both its just too much money to wrap up in your 3rd line centre

1st trade: Honestly, pretty spot on trade IMO. Det could use a Kylington type on their back end, downgrade slightly at the moment and develop Pelletier with their core and gain a 1st. If they're going to let Mantha go, this is a solid offer

2nd trade: While the value is fairly similar I don't see philly going for this as Backlund is a poor mans couturier.

Leipsic is actually a very underrated prospect. 2 100+ point seasons in the WHL and 35 points in 47 games in his first AHL Season. For a kid who's 5'10 taken late in the third round, I'd say that's a good snag

Woods

The reason they are trying to trade him is so they don't get stuck with 7mil a year off their payroll when you could use that 7mil in a better way, its a money game
