This was a trade rumor I saw today, this not something I thought of.

To BUF: Ryan Spooner
To BOS: Chris Stewart

jtsbuf4327

1.) This trade below I like a lot better:
BOS trades 2015 2nd & Spooner to BUF for Stafford (50% retained) & 2015 5th and it received 17 believable and 5 unbelievable.
Regardless, I do not think Boston has the cap space to take all of Stewart's remaining salary.
Finally, most contributors to this site seem to value Vermette a lot higher than either Stafford or Stewart. There is an interesting read on the 4th period by Chad DeDominicis, he offers a a brief over view of their career comparisons, Vermette-.533pts/gm, stafford-.574pts/gm, Stewart-.571pts/gm and Vermette does not bring the toughness nor size that either of the Sabres provide.
This was only one of the remarkable trades Vermette to PIT for Bortuzzo, Megna & 2015 1st
jtsbuf4327 if you or I mentioned Staf or Stew for a 1st, we would be ridiculed as smoking pot all day long. Two comments were made about that post, one about the other trade mentioned and the other only saying it seemed like a lot for Vermette, not the derision you or I would have faced for presuming to suggest that the talent exchange was equitable.

2.) IDK but Spooner does not appear to have the skills to be a regular NHL player. He is 23 yo and has 11 pts in 33 gms, I could not envision Murray trading a proven NHL power forward/enforcer (who averages .571pts/gm) for a player who at best would be a depth forward.

3.) 06 Feb 2015 01:09:49
Too much for Stewart. Maybe Bartkowski, but not Spooner.

4.) This trade was up yesterday:
BOS trades 2015 2nd & Spooner to BUF for Stafford (50% retained) & 2015 5th and received 16 believable and unbelievable 5.
Regardless, I do not think Boston has the cap space to take all of Stewart's remaining salary.
Finally, most contributors to this site seem to value Vermette a lot higher than either Stafford or Stewart.

Sabres-Avalanche

To COL: Tyler Myers, Cody Hodgson
To BUF: Ryan O'Reilly, Joey Hishon, 2015 1st

Sabres-Predators

To NSH: Chris Stewart, 2015 2nd or 2015 3rd
To BUF: Pontus Aberg/Brendan Leipsic and Austin Watson

jtsbuf4327

1.) Buffalo is not looking to trade picks.

2.) @jtsbuf4327 just for fun look up the stats for ROR (351 gms -191pts) and Hodgson (211 gms-121pts) prior to this year. I would never say ROR and Hodgson are equal, but maybe with a better coach Hodgson could be a lot better. Also, IMO Murray will get a better return for Stewart without adding picks. Austin Watson does not look like he will ever be an NHL player.

Sabres-Canucks

To VAN: Matt Moulson (Retain 25%), Cody Hodgson, Anthony Florentino and Brady Austin
To BUF: Zach Kassian, Brendan Gaunce, Alexandre Mallet, 2015 1st

jtsbuf4327

1.) Vancouver probably won't be trading any of thier 1st's anytime soon.

2.) Vancouver doesn't need another Centre they have 2 centres playing wing now.

3.) Moulson signed with Buffalo to be close to home. Since he has a not trade contract the only team he will accept a trade to is Toronto and possibly Detroit.

4.) 16 Jan 2015 22:51:43
Alexander Mallet isn't a Canuck anymore. He and other parts were traded for Andrey Pedan.

5.) I like the concept of the trade:
Cody Hodgson & Brady Austin = Zach Kassian & Brendan Gaunce
Matt Moulson & Anthony Florentino < Alexandre Mallet & 2015 1st
IMO BUF needs to add,
BTW Alexandre Mallet plays for NYI now, he was traded with a 3rd for Andrey Pedan.

6.) Cody Hodgson and Zack Kassian aren't getting switched again.

7.) 17 Jan 2015 06:06:07
Vancouver doesn't need more centres but they need better centres if they actually want to compete in the playoffs with teams like Chicago, LA, Anaheim and Nashville. To be honest, despite his stats he is not a 2nd line centre. He is a 3rd line centre who has been playing well early and has struggled as of late. Hodgson while he was here did look like he could reach his potential as a legit top 6 centre but he has been playing awful.

8.) @Titties, a lot of Sabres look bad right now. They have the worse coach in the NHL who is doing a great job at trying to win the race for McDavid. His all left handed top line has scored 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 8 games.

Rumors about Myers on the move, even though I don't want him to leave. What I believe can possibly happen. Two scenarios.

Sabres-Avalanche

To COL: Tyler Myers, Andrej Meszaros (possible Salary Retain)
To BUF: Ryan O'Reilly, Ryan Wilson, Andrew Agozzino, Joey Hishon

Sabres-Red Wings

To DET: Tyler Myers
To BUF: Tatar or Mantha or Larkin and a 2015 1st

jtsbuf4327

1.) IMO DET will not give up that much and Murray will want more from COL. I do like your trades. When you are putting together a trade for Stafford, Stewart, Enroth etc. think about adding from the Sabres and getting a better prospect instead of trading for two prospects. The Sabres have at least 10 bottom 9 prospects, they need top 3 prospects. For example Brian Flynn & Marcus Foligno to a team that needs a LW and help on the PK for one good prospect. I would like to see what you could construct.

2.) Well it's not like Murray would be asking for all three of those players, but that's what I believe the only way the trade with DET will happen if we either get Tatar, Mantha or Larkin (one of the three) and a first this year. And for the trade with COL I didn't want to go with too much.

3.) I do not see Detroit sending Mantha or Tatar for Myers. That would be too high for Detroit.

Myers has one of the worst Corsi numbers this season and they like puck possession. He has not produced more than 30 points in a couple years as being a top D on that team. Would it be nice to see him and Dekeyser mature together? Yes, but Holland will not give away the future (Tatar and Mantha or Larkin and a 1st) to make that happen.

Tatar is proven and Mantha is adjusting to the AHL finally. They like Larkin a lot and do not see them giving him away either. He also said he is not into trading 1st round picks either. Holland likes the prospects that they have coming up in the next couple of years, and I do not see them sending a bunch of them for one or two players.

4.) Sorry, I miss read the "or" in the post. I still do not see Detroit doing any of those trades because you would be giving 20+ goals scorers away for a D man that the only thing he adds is a RH shot. Tatar has proven in his two seasons (this one not done yet) that he should be a 20 goal scorer. If Mantha is able to adjust to the AHL, he is projected to be a 20-30 goal scorer and the scouts really like Larkin.

I also see Buffalo wanting more for Myers from Detroit. Buffalo seems to want a lot for their players. Something more along the lines of TatarNyquist
Mantha and LarkinPulkkinenSproulOuellet and a pick for Myers.

5.) Mike and 4327, exactly, Murray wants more, DET will not give it to him. That is why I do not think Myers will be traded this year.

Sabres-Wild

To MIN: Michal Neuvirth
To BUF: Jordan Schroeder and Carson Soucy

OR

To MIN: Jhonas Enroth
To BUF: Jordan Schroeder, Gustav Olofsson, and 2015 3rd

jtsbuf4327

1.) I like the Enroth trade.

2.) I feel its a lot for enroth comsidering that scrivens went for a 3rd and had one year more on his contract. I know enroth> scrivens but I wouldn't say that much.
