Tampa already has 70M$ cap; if they wanna keep Namestnikov, Sustr (RFA), Kilhorn, Brown, Kucherov (2016 RFA), Drouin (2017 RFA), Hedman, Johnson und Palat(2017 UFA) long term as their core they have to split with Stamkos.

to TML: Stamkos
to Bolts: JVR, Frederik Gauthier, Josh Leivo, 1st

1.) 26 Jun 2015 18:57:14
it will cost you a lot more then that to get stamkos .and your not getting him

2.) 26 Jun 2015 19:01:21
Oh god, not this crap again.

3.) 26 Jun 2015 19:32:31
You don't trade Stamkos to keep other players. You find players to play with Stamkos.

Stupid, just stupid

4.) 26 Jun 2015 20:53:45
Why would toronto do this trade?
We could just sign him when he become a Ufa next season. But Stamkos is not going anywhere! No more

5.) 26 Jun 2015 21:21:19
Really justifying your name there

6.) 27 Jun 2015 11:39:21
1. IF they were about to trade him, they'd receive 28 better offers. Try starting with Nylander, Rielly, Marner and some 1sts, haha.
2. No they do not have to trade anyone to keep Stamkos or vice versa. Cap will rise, plus TB has several contracts they can either trade or let expire (Carle, Filppula, Bishop, Coburn, Garrison). All players can eaisly be replaced (in 1-2 years) from within the system. Not to mention further draft picks, possible FA signings or trades.

Carle, Coburn and Garrison can be replaced by DeAngelo, Koekkoek, Nesterov, Witkowski, Masin, MacLeod, etc. Filppula can get replaced by Point, Peca, or simply expanding the role of Namestnikov). Vasilevskiy will overtake Bish's starting job in 1-2 years anyways.
So there won't be any cap trouble at all, especially if everyone might take a slight paycut to keep this team together. Gagner's retained salary will come off our books after this year, too.

Plus, it's not like guys like Sustr/Namestnikov will get super big contracts this summer.

Just shhhhh if you've got no idea about other teams situations, thanks.

Why on earth would you trade Sutter as a cap dump? He's a very underrated 3rd line C. He won't put up big numbers but he is still a great PK / Checker.

2.) 25 Jun 2015 06:04:23
At least pouliot should be in that lineup if not kapanen

3.) 25 Jun 2015 06:05:57
also sign comeau or winnik for more scoring depht

Pens off-season:

qualify Cole, Dumoulin, Bennett
re-sign Winnik
sign Jamie McBain (3yrs/2,4m), Tyler Kennedy (1yr/0,6m)
extend for 16/17: Spalling (4 yrs/7m as #3 center)

let Murray, Pouliot, Harrington, Dumoulin, Wilson, Rust, Kapanen & Sundqvist play AHL for another year

Fleury / Zatkoff
Maatta - Letang
Cole - Lovejoy
Scuderi - McBain
Kunitz - Crosby - Sutter
Perron - Malkin - Hornqvist
Dupuis - Spalling - Bennett
Winnik - Megna - Kennedy

May try to trade Sutter, Lovejoy, Perron if season do not develop as expected.

Wait. 7mil a year or 2.33?

2.) 24 May 2015 11:31:51
Obviously not $7M a year.

3.) 25 May 2015 09:17:46
Sorry, not 7m$ a year, of course, 7m$ for all 4 years

to Blues: Brandon Sutter
to PIT: Jori Lehtera, Brent Regner

Blues could extend Sutter long-term and use him as replacement for Backes or Berglund if they deceide to trade one of them or both. He was a good player in crunch times, especially defensively the last two seasons.

Lethera could be used as left wing together with Malkin and Kapanen while Pens get some more cap space to find another winger (Tlusty or Stafford?) Spalling should center the third line (he was much better in the middle last season). Regner could upgrade Scranton (Pens are shy of right handed d-men) and may have a better shot for promotion than in St.Louis.

1.) 11 May 2015 03:53:30
No from St louis since they find letters more useful than sutter

2.) 21 May 2015 19:52:49
St. Louis and the pens have a good relationship regarding trades and blues need a good 3rd or 4th line center

01 May 2015 09:10:49
Yotes should bring back Tikhonov and try to get Malkin to center him.

to ARI: Malkin, Scuderi, Zatkoff
to PIT: Stone, Riederer, Korpikoski, Lessio & 1st

Qualify Boedtker & Arcobello, promote the Samuelsson-brothers.

Sign McQuaid, Bartkowski, Stafford & Stempniak

Smith / Zatkoff (6,3m$)
Scuderi, OEL, McQuaid, Bartkowski, Moore, Murphy, Samuelsson (approx. 18M$)
Malkin, Tikhonov, Stafford, Stempniak, Boedker, Arcobello, Doan, Gagner, Samuelsson, Vitale, Hanzal, Chipchura (approx 43m$)

Want Malkin? Start with OEL, Boedker, 1st
That's the price I guess.

Personally I do not believe that the Pens will trade Malkin (not even under new ownership) this season but splitting #87 and #71 could be the change that is necessary to make Pens a possible contender.

What do you think would teams return in a trade for Geno and who could be interested in him?

Thanks for your thoughts.

1.) 12 Jun 2015 16:00:51
Top 2 defence man, 2nd line C, young winger prospect and a 1st

2.) 12 Jun 2015 16:21:55
My question is what is the market for him. I don't see a rebuilding team making a play for him. So now you're looking at playoff/fringe playoff teams.

St.Louis, Montreal, Nashville, maybe Florida has some outside interest?

So at that point, maybe Nashville - low payroll with 3 or 4 really solid prospects to make that deal happen.

3.) 12 Jun 2015 17:21:15
Agreed. Nashville and St.Louis are the only teams I can see making a trade for him. Florida could be interesting

4.) 12 Jun 2015 19:02:49
I think they need to mainly focus on getting a replacement second line center and 2 top 6 wingers. Depending on the players could potentially get more and might need to take a cap dump.

16 May 2015 15:41:48
During the WC Crosby, Eberle & Hall build some chemistry.

I was thinking about if a trade is possible to reunite these three in the NHL, but I guess that EDM ist center-loaded and a Eberle/Hall for Malkin/Bennett-trade may not happen.

On the other hand I do not think that Crosby will shipped to thr Oilers for a huge package like RNH, Lander, Moroz, C.Hamilton what´s keeping most of the Oilers-core intact.

Thoughts?

Lol. Oilers say no to the first and Pens say no to the second.

Don´t think Pens will move Scuds, Kunitz or Dupper, all are highly reputated by the management and important voices in the locker room.
Pens will keep Sutter long-term; they need him as no.3 center (they do not have anybody else in their system who can fill out that role now) and the focus is on wingers.
Agree that they will sign some FA for Geno´s line, my guess is Tikhonov.
Reilly will not sign with PIT and Rutherford will not (be allowed to) make offer sheets (by management).

Ducks say no, but maybe James Wisniewski would fit in DET

Do not think the Pens will do this (not with todays ownership situation) but it adresses to Pittsbugh needs: Kunitz, Dupuis, Perron, Sutter and Spalling will turn FA in next 1-2 years and Pens do not have enough cap-friendly prospects to fill-up their roster.

To replace all five (3 top six,2 3rd line) players via free agency they will not leave enough cap-space (average:

Ehrhoff put his house in PIT up for sale; he will not resign with the Pens.
