Vancouver: 2017 1st Round Pick (5th Ovr), Tanev, 2018 2nd Round Pick
Philadelphia: 2017 1st Round Pick (2nd Ovr)
Vancouver needs a solid foundational player that is NHL ready. Take Patrick or Hishier.
Philadelphia doesn't necessarily need that pick. They get some experienced help on the back end from a top 4 Defencemen, plus more depth in the draft.

i like your logic, solid reasoning and i think it's realistic, maybe philly adds a 3rd though?

The way i see it philly has 2 choices. 1. Do exactly what you proposed and move down in the draft and acquire a solid roster player to maybe go for a cup run. 2. Run with the pick and go into a quick rebuild. I personally would go with the rebuild they have pretty good group of kids (provorov, gostisbehere, morin, sanheim, and konecny) either patrick or hischier and whatever you can get for giroux, Simmonds, voracek or whatever can get the best prospects and draft picks. In three or four years philly will be a sick team and at a time where some of the powerhouses will be on their last legs.

Man that's so much to move up 3 spots. The fact you have to add Tanev + come on. These guys are obviously good but they aren't on mcdavid eichel Matthews level.

All i know about this draft are the 2 guys everyone talks about at 1 and 2. Is there that much of a dropoff from from 2 to 5? can't remember if it was Bobby Ryan picked 2 by Anahiem and Habs picked 5th, Carey Price.
So sometimes its not all that bad to pick at 5.
I just hope Canucks take the best player at 5, I think last year they could have done better at that spot. Joelevi is maybe going to be good, but I think some of the guys that went after are going to be better. Eg. Tkachuk, Sergachev, Keller.

Thanks for the input everyone. After looking over everyone's comments maybe Canucks get rid of the 2nd rounder and Philly adds a 3rd instead.?
IMO Philly's team is looking really good. I feel like most of their young guns are ready for a playoff push next year. (Reminding me a bit of this year's Nashville) Tanev makes sense as his defensive presence is definitely a big upside for Philly.
Vancouver needs to start building through the draft and that's why this makes sense for them. Start the foundation with someone you know is guaranteed to be great in the NHL (Hishier or Patrick), and build off that in years coming.
Vancouver's only real solid prospects right now are: Horvat, Stecher, Boeser, Juolevi, Dahlen, Virtanen (starting to look more like a bust=lazar), and Demko.
Perspective is coming from a Nucks fan btw
