this trade would be based on calgary not being totally sold on Bennett
Toronto - 2015 1st rd pick (as long as it wasnt one of the top two)
Calgary - Sam Bennett
Toronto gets the center they are looking for who is further ahead then both Marner and Strome. He could start in the NHL next season. With all the players being traded this summer for prospects in picks they may want to feature a solid young prospect on the team next year.
for Calgary it let's them pick most likely between Marner or Strome or Hanifin if they believe them to have more potential then Bennett. Also let's them walk away from Bennetts first year that went down to an injury.

id rather have strome/hanifin/marner than bennett, and the lefs are pretty much guaranteed one of those 3 to be there when they pick.

It's not a horrible idea, I love Bennett but I think hanifin, strome, marner have more value at the moment than Bennett so Calgary adds IMO

Ask yourself why would the leafs do that it's not fair value IMO

You guys are kidding, right? 1st, without having a shot at the top 2, why the hell would CGY do that deal? Bennett came back from his shoulder surgery and promptly put up 24pts in 11gms, helping his team win 8 straight to make the PO's. Anyone thinking draft prospects not named McDavid or Eichel are worth more than Bennet right now, I have to question your sanity.

Ya Bennett's season was very successful, all 11 games of it.
And he did great at the combine, almost a full pull up.
Strome, hanifin, mcdavid, eichel> Bennett
Marner too I think

Leafhate_. That's brilliant, "couldn't do a pull-up; all 11 games". Kid came back from shoulder surgery, a big reason he couldn't do a pull up or play most of the year. Who cares about whether a 17 year old could do a pull up or not. Have you watched him play? If you think Marner or Strome have more value, I hope the Leafs contact you for rebuild advise. It would ensure another 20 years of Leaf futility.
