are you kidding. that flyers trade is awful. both schenn and lecavelier have over 4m cap hits. that puts toronto with over 3m more cap. and i'd rather have lupul than those two. also underpayment for courture. truth is its not enough quality

i can't say this enough the Sharks are not going to trade Pavelski or Couture. The value would have to be so far in their favor that they would be stupid for saying no. They represent the two building blocks San Jose needs to start building around. If the Sharks need a shake up I could see them trading Burns who could bring in a solid package before they trade either of these two players.

As for the Leafs/Philly trade it is just stupid. The leafs worked wonders to get rid of Clarkson and his contract and are hoping to move Kessels, Phanuefs, and hopefully Lupuls in the offseason. It would go against everything they are trying to do with the rebuild by picking up those two guys.

How does aquiring a young defenceman go against everything they're trying to do in the rebuild?
^That is just stupid.
I think it's unlikely the sharks move couture to say it definitely won't happen is stupid.
I'm not sure if you were guessing how much Luke schenn makes @bigz but it's actually a 3.6 million cap hit.

25 Mar 2015 16:59:53
ahhh, yes schenn, perfect. because that worked out great the first time. he isn't good enough. they already stole jvr from the flyers. they don't need schenn back

@leafhate

i never said they wouldn't trade couture I said they would need to get a trade that they could not say no too in order to trade him. He is young and a top center in the league the trade you proposed won't get it done. You can't sign or trade for centers like him because teams know how valuable they are the only way you get one now is by drafting them which is why this draft has so much hype with centers like McDavid, Eichel, Strome, and Marner.

as for Schenn the leafs got rid of him for a reason. He came into the league with huge hype and hasn't lived up to it and he was ripped by the leafs fans because he was slow and unreliable in his own end. He has shown over the years that he is a bottom pairing guy that can step up into the top four for a couple of games if in dire need due to injuries. Because he is only a bottom pairing guy his 3.6 is an overpayment. Toronto already has a player that plays the game the same way as schenn but does it better and adds a veteran presence and that's Polak.

Lmao @bigz
Didn't schenn jump to the nhl at 18?
Didn't he play pretty well for us for years?
Didn't we trade him for jvr?
I think it worked out great the first time.

Lmao @ tmleaf
"I can't say this enought the sharks are not going to trade pavelski or couture"
" I never said they wouldn't trade couture"

Maybe you're right and a 26 starting goalie,
(which San Jose needs)
a solid 2/3 center
(that can replace couture at center as well as 80% of his offence)
and a first round pick (in a deep draft) is not enough quality but I think it's close.

Luke schenn is a better dman than roman polak and he has a higher ceiling as well.
Schenn 25> polak 28
494 games> 480
24 goals> 18
112 points>88
-22> -29
Also consider that schenn did most of that on poor leafs teams playing against tougher competition than polak who
Played on much better teams in St. Louis.

"i can't say this enough the Sharks are not going to trade Pavelski or Couture. The value would have to be so far in their favor that they would be stupid for saying no. "

to me it wouldn't make sense to trade either of their two young centers because of what's going on with thornton. Marleau is almost gone too. I would rather start a rebuild around Couture and Pavelski then make that trade is all i'm saying. Bernier is a solid piece in the trade for sure but I don't think Bozak comes close to replacing Coutures overall game and value. The draft pick is also nice but the sharks would also be giving up a valuable high second round pick.

as for schenn I just think it would be a terrible idea to bring him back. That trade was one of the bright spots in the last couple of years for the leafs because vanRiemsdyk is way better then Schenn. Also Schenns time in toronto was a train wreck. People in toronto thought he was going to be a top pairing guy because of all the hype after the draft and the management built him up to being a stud dman and he hasn't been anywhere close to it. I would rather go out and make a trade for another dman that could come in fresh with the rebuild and not have a past as rocky as Schenns last stint with the leafs was.

26 Mar 2015 18:22:28
Lol @tmleafs ^ wow just wow to your first point.

How did we move schenn for jvr if his time here was a trainwreck? granted Tml won that trade to this point. But if schenn was as bad for us as you suggest philly wouldn't have wanted him at that price(JVR)

It seems like your suggesting schenn's first time as a leaf failed because of the hype of being drafted so high etc. but this would be a fresh start for him minus the hype from the first time he played here plus the leafs need more guys that can clear the front of the net something schenn is better at than polak. Agree to disagree I guess
