I'd prefer the leafs move kessel, phaneuf, lupul but if they don't get fair value than keep them for a year and I think they'll have more value then.

kessel is easily the best player from a purely skill-based perspective. anywyas, trading a teams best players can happen, and when you're rebuilding it can be argued your best players should be traded for it to be done successfully.

But Shankar the Leafs should only trade their best players if the return is astronomical. Kessel had a poor season this year and his price is dropped down and combined with a $8 mil cap hit other teams will try to take advantage. If the Leafs don't get what they are looking for I seriously don't think it's a big deal to trade Kessel this off season. They can do next season or don't do it at all.

I only said keep JVR.
He has a fantastic contract and is a great player with a rare combination of skill and grit.

^what. How is jvr a gritty hockey player.
He is big but I wouldn't call him a gritty player.
The leafs don't need astronomical value in a deal for
Kessel or jvr, just fair value and young assets.
It is in torontos best interest to move kessel and jvr otherwise they will be a mediocre team for even longer.
Rebuilding teams don't need elite talent especially if they have a nice contract( JVR ) as much as teams that want to compete under the salary cap.
Kessels trade value is still really high despite his down season IMO

Phil kessel still has descent trade value despite the bullying/trolling he takes.
