IF Draistil = Hanifin. Phaneuf is NOT worth 15th overall, 33rd overall and Marincin or Schultz. Especially without money retained. Edm should definitely not go after Phanuff with that contract. They will have McDavid and Nurse to pay big money to at some point. To many years for Dion to go after without money retained.

Whoever Toronto picks at 4 will be better than Draisaitl (whether it's Hanifin or Strome). Phaneuf might stay with the acquisition of Babs but I wouldn't be too sure. I think Phaneuf goes to PHI, DAL or Detroit.
This trade is dumb for both sides. No deal.

but draisaitl does not equal hanifin. there's no "if" involved, strome/hanifin and maybe even marner are projected to be better players than draisaitl. like I've said before, not his fault he was taken 3rd and that has draft class was weaker than this year.

McDavid and Nurse will be on there entry level contract for 5yrs, so I don't get saying Edmonton has to pay them big bucks, not for 5yrs people when he becomes a RFA, then 2 yrs after that Edmonton won't have to worry because McDavid will sign in Toronto as a UFA

maybe i'm delusional but I think draisitl is going to be a beast.
but if he's going to be traded for anything i'd rather it be in a package for a top defender already proven.
