BOS-CAL
Bruins trade Dougie Hamilton

What is Sweeney thinking? That is your future franchise Dman. I guess they are thinking tank?

they might try to use these picks and trade down? maybe Hanifin? Doubt it, but that's the only reason I think Sweeney did this. He might have another trade in the works. If not, it was a really dumb trade. I guess the Kessel trade doesn't look so bad now.

saw this all day on twitter - Great trade for Calgary!

WTF!!

26 Jun 2015 21:15:28
I can't believe how stupid Don Sweeney is. So many other contracts and players to get rid of before Hamilton. Good on Brad Treliving and the Flames.

Recap:

Toronto:
Phil Kessel

Boston:
Reilly Smith
Joe Morrow
Loui Eriksson
Zack Phillips
1st Round Pick 2015(15)
2nd Round Pick 2015(45)
2nd Round Pick 2015(52)

Yea if sweeney doesn't have any other plans Boston is in trouble

26 Jun 2015 21:31:49
I'd rather have Seguin and Hamilton than all that. Neither Toronto or Boston won

27 Jun 2015 04:09:22
Well, let's see. if Hamilton is signed to an offer sheet, Boston most likely gets a first, second and a third rounder. As it stands, they couldn't afford his demands so doing it this way, they got a first and two seconds. How is that not a win?

I believe that the Bruins really wanted to keep Dougie, but simply did not wan't to put themselves in a salary situation that is spining out of control. rumours of Dougies salary have spun from 4,5 to 8m/year and the latter is just a dangerous road to walk, giving him the best salary on the team and lockin him up on that deal for 8 years, relatively unproven in terms of defensive skills!?! Bruins have admitted that they have made too bad contract deals of late and salary has always been a way for teams with less appeal to attract players.

Dougie wanted out, plain and simple, by not getting a cheap roster player along with the picks is where Sweeney failed.

1st, 2nd, 2nd, M.Ferland for D.Hamilton & conditional pick (long term contract signed, no pick included)

27 Jun 2015 17:28:59
I bet Calgary signs him to a reasonable contract.

6.5/ 6yrs

Wonder if Bruins turn eyes to active roster improvements on free agency!
