I'm sure I'll get blasted for this proposal but here we go.
JVR to philly for both Schenn's and maybe a 2nd or 3rd?Philly would have to realize they f'd up the trade years ago for this to work. The reasons philly does this is to help solidify their top 6. They have tons of defense talent in their system, they won't miss Luke. They save money and Couturier IMO is ready to be the 2nd line center. Toronto does this to get a young, versatile forward with lots of potential. A big, physical defenseman who will probably never live up to expectations but capable of maturing into a solid defenseman. I think the leafs get a pick because a lot of people see Luke as a cap dump. This trade probably wouldn't happen but is it fair?

Change the pick to a 1st and Toronto accepts or at lest considers it JVR is a player philly would love to have.

very bad deal for the leafs

No From Toronto. JVR is a stud. Luke schenn sucks and Brayden will never match the quality of JVR. A 2nd or 3rd doesn't come close to evening it out.

I like this deal and do find it somewhat fair, but you're right, it wouldn't happen. TML is most likely planning to use JVR as a cornerstone of the rebuild, and although Brayden is versatile and effective, he doesn't put up the same numbers that JVR does. Luke is a cap dump and will not live up to expectations, although he is able to play bottom 6 mins, or even top 4 if he isn't relied on too much, but a 2nd rounder would tie this whole deal together.

throw in provorov and yes.

JVR is sticking around for the reebuild

And you get blasted

Provorov in a deal for JVR?!?! LOL!'

JVR, with respect, wouldn't even get Provorov in a straight-up trade. He is HIGHLY regarded as a prospect and could end up being the best D of this past draft. You're off your rocker.

Btw, it's hilarious to read the leafs fans hate for L Schenn these days when he was regarded as a savior when he was drafted. Not mocking any single leafs fans on here so hold your water, but boy was there a ceremony at his feet on msg boards all over the place during his first few years. And now he is a pariah. So I guess around 2017-18, Kessel will finally be acknowledged as one-dimensional?

I'm having trouble even typing this but I agree with chirp. I obviously still like him though and would have him back in Toronto anytime. The heart he played with as an 18 year old is tough to match. Hitting everything that moved and fighting anyone to protect his team. He's among the top in hits every year and is still only 25 I believe. Defenseman take longer to mature and he's capable of becoming a solid shut down d man. Anyways, a little off topic but I think Babcock will turn a few players careers around. I think Jake Gardiner will have his best year. When he makes a mistake, he will be thrown back out there to learn from that mistake. Wilson and Carlyle would put him in the press box instead, destroying a young kids confidence.
