How to ruin the leafs in 5 moves by leafs99!

This is awful.

04 Aug 2015 15:23:13
How is it ruining them. They get rid of the the players they want gone, for good value in return, and in the JVR deal, they get two top 6 forwards and 2 Good B level prospects for the rebuild. There in rebuild mode. These trades help with that, and also keep them with an NHL roster. Idk what your talking about buddy. If u have a reason for why u don't like a trade or two, give a reason. If u have no reasons, then it just hating for NO REASON.

04 Aug 2015 15:56:20
Yeah I think Leafs lose most of these trades

04 Aug 2015 16:22:53
Like you said, the leafs are rebuilding. Why would anyone think that taking on stupid contracts with long term help the leafs in any way at all?!! Especially aging players. Man you don't get it.

Bickell - 4 million
Versteeg - 3 or 4 million?
Franzen - 4 million
Nikitin - 4 million
Ward - 6 million
McDonald - 6 million

This ruins the leafs long term. They take on ridiculous contracts for players in their 30s and on the decline. All while getting rid of players that they could use to turn into draft picks at the deadline.

And don't even get me started on the JVR trade. Bickell as the focal point in a JVR trade is a disgrace.

Thank God you aren't the GM. The leafs would never ever even come close to winning anything with you in charge.

Oh, and none of these are "rumours floating around". You just made them all up.

04 Aug 2015 16:34:21
lol its obviously ruining the team. 1. you traded phaneuf for nothing, 2. you traded polak for nothing (sure not overly valueable, but has some value) 3. you traded jvr for nothing.

also, they don't get 2 top 6 forwards in the jvr deal, bickell is an overpaid 3rd liner, TOR had versteeg and I didn't work out, and nordstrom and pokka are far from quality.

04 Aug 2015 17:19:45
1st Lol @ Stammer. 2nd that's a lot of moves that doesn't improve the roster much nor IMO does it follow the plan of get young players and picks in return for the out going guys.

EDM - TML
-Nikitin is low risk because of he's short term
-Purcell is a vulnerable player right now and has a lot to prove since falling from a top 6 spot in TB
-Moroz & Gernat are decent prospects, but Nilsson=Gernat & Spaling>Moroz

PHI-TML
-Polak & Purcell for MacDonald kinda favours the Flyers a bit but MacDonald is capable of being a top 4 guy so good deal IMO

DET-TML
Kindl is a top 4 dman, and DET is supposed to give him up along with an Often Injured winger, (Franzen) and promising prospect (Sheahan) for Bozak (a steady 2nd liner/Depth player) and an EVEN more Often Injured winger who has a larger cap total (Lupul). Not to mention TML already has Horton on Permanent Injured Reserve

CHI-TML
-JVR>Bickell
-JVR is also going to remain as a cornerstone for TML's rebuild.
-Granberg is a talented Defensive prospect, and since TML is rebuilding, he'll be useful in upcoming years.
-Versteeg is a 3rd liner who has low cap, but whether he's brought back to TML or not, doesn't really matter
-Pokka is an A+ prospect that CHI will most likely look towards in upcoming years as they shed NHL players for cap space.

CAR-TML
-Komorov is strictly a depth player
-Robdas is too Old with too long of a Term and too high of a Salary
-Riemer is a good goalie and should be given more of a chance

-Ward has a 5mill cap, and at this point in his career, is at the same level as Reimer

The only benefit in this deal goes to CAR who trades off an average goalie with high cap for an average goalie with a decent cap. Everything else about this trade is useless to them and to the Leafs

1 out of 5 trades are acceptable without any altering

04 Aug 2015 18:14:07
@StammerToLeafs16

Wait, aren't the Leafs already ruined?

04 Aug 2015 19:34:48
@gennoots13

Pokka an A+ prospect?!

Man.

Also, can Ward has a 6.3 m cap hit. Not 5.

04 Aug 2015 19:36:03
@mcoilers

They were, now they are finally starting to pull themselves out. (Just like the oilers)

04 Aug 2015 20:16:31
Aahahahahaha. Now this is priceless.

04 Aug 2015 20:44:09
Wouldn't be bad if you added draft picks coming back to leafs in every trade. because there should be.

04 Aug 2015 21:57:46
@Stammer2Leafs

LOL buddy, Toronto isn't even close to being like Edmonton.

In 2-3 years I think we will make the playoffs and might go deep.

Toronto on the other hand is going pick in the top 3 this year and top 5 next.
(I am sure of it).

05 Aug 2015 00:30:15
the jvr trade is a joke. There is not even close to enough value there for toronto. jvr could fetch more then kessel did because he scores close to a 30 goal scorer, is young, and is on a cheap contract. if the leafs took back one bad contract it would be to get even better value but to take on two they would need to be blown away. start with first rounders and the top prospect on the team they are trading jvr too if they take back contracts like Bickell and Versteeg.

as for the other deals you add terrible contracts with bad term and you fail to add high end prospect to make it worth it. thank god you are not the leafs gm wow.

05 Aug 2015 18:55:30
@mcoilers

You took that out of context. What I was eluding to was the fact that the oilers were destined for another awful year. Then they won the lottery, hired new coach and management and added a couple of good FA signings and trades. Now they have pulled themselves out and could be a playoff team.

As for the leafs, we were destined for another circus but with the overhaul on coaching and management/scouting we have now put ourselves in the right direction as a team moving forward, thus creating the illusion that we have "pulled ourselves out of it"

@Stammer2Leafs2016

Ward's true salary actually proves my point further, but ok thanks for setting that straight. And Pokka is a good prospect. that's not up for debate. Maybe he won't be a Top 2 guy but he'll for sure make the NHL by next season (2017-18) if he stays with the Hawks. They're shedding bigger contracts and it'll open the door for top-end prospects. At least from what I've seen from him has been impressive
