I don think you understand. His value is high in the league and even higher to the blues. i'm sorry but hopes and washed out first rounders don't mean dinky doo. The blues are not trading shattenkirk. If he isn't worth that much then why is everyone posting 3-4 trades wanting him every freaking day

As much as I love hall nurse is un proven and it doesn't fill our hole in the d unit if blues were not trying to win now I would take that trade in a heart beat but we are in win now mode hall makes offence better but nurse isn't NHL ready yet so now we have a pp problem and a #2 odman problem with no suitable defences

You can't compare Kessel to shattenkirk in worth. There are to many different variables in play and I will name them all.
1) shattenkirk is an RFA still after next season Kessel is in the beginning of a huge overpayment contract.
2) shattenkirk is still very young and in the beginning of his prime. comming off two back to back 45 pt seasons in the second of which he was on pace to score 60 pts. but instead got 45pts in 56 games.
3) Kessel has made a bad name for himself in 3 ways. (1) He is a selfish one way player who doesn't help on defense. (2) he has a huge attitude problem in the locker room. (3) he has been said to be uncoachable by boston and toronto coaches .
Shattenkirk is a team player who plays defense just as well as he plays offence. He is well liked by the organization and by the coaches. "nicest kid around" per armstrong. "a real leader". per hitch and you know how he feels about young players.
3) toronto was on a firesale and are in rebuild mode so they got the best they could for kessels high contract just to get rid of him. THe blues are in a win now mode and Shattenkirk is a large part of the team. he is needed.
4) the blues are not in a cap problem situation. All the core players are locked up to reasonable contracts. Next year several vetrans fall off the books including Brouwer, ott, elliot, and backes. that's plenty ofmoney to sign shatty and swartz to reasonable long contracts.
5) Shattenkirk is an RFA the blues hold all the bargaining power with him. Besides he loves it here and we love him so why would he want to leave for a team that can't even make the freaking playoffs.
Its not that I dontthink Hall and nurse is reasonable but it is going to take an un-resonable offer (huge overpayment) to pull shattenkirk from st. louis that's my point.

You make all good points and Shattenkirk probably won't be moved. But IF they were offered that (they wouldn't be) they would take it in a heart beat

would you take that. Fills your need for a great big puck controling left ,right or center, fills the need for your horrible defense,and puts another nhl ready young entry level contract with huge upside he set records in juniors. Plus he has had 1/3 of a season to learn two way hockey, which is something that doesn't get get coached in edm. you know they would take it.
