Tor - James vanRiemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Richard Panik, 2016 1st rd pick (PIT)

Nyi - Brock Nelson, Josh Bailey, Michael Dal Colle

vanRiemsdyk becomes the left winger for tavares going forward. Okposo, Tavares, and vanRiemsdyk are all around the same age and could grow as a line moving forward. Tyler bozak gives them flexibility at center and replaces nelson. Panik gives them a solid cheap bottom line winger. the 1st round pick should get them a solid young player.

Toronto get younger with both nelson and bailey. baileys contract isn't great but he would get more ice time to produce in toronto right now he's penciled in on the fourth line for nyi. Dal Colle is the biggest prize as he could be the trigger man on a line with marner in the future.

James vanRIemsdyk = dal colle (i think nyi would have to add a little becasue vanriemsdyk is already a proven top line winger)
Bozak, Panik, 1st = Nelson, Bailey

no way NYI does.

also, please can everyone stop involving PIT's first, the leafs don't techinically have it yet, or any PIT 1st for that matter. so, even if they can trde the potential rights to the pick (which I doubt they can) no one is going to give much for it for the simple fact that is not guaranteed to be this year or any year, for that matter and would turn into a 2nd depending on how PIT does the next 2 years.

Cap space!? I don't think NYI could do that even if they wanted too. They also have zero need for Bozak.

12 Sep 2015 21:25:36
@shankar I get what your saying but the chances of pit not making the playoffs with their roster is slim. You can say they almost missed it last year but with the moves they made this off season they should be better this year. if a team was worried about that pick then toronto can throw in the third they got from that trade and their own second which will likely be at the top of the second round to equal the value of a late first.

@BJ96 their cap would be fine bozak only adds about a million to baileys cap hit with more production. depending on what nelson is signed for he could be around the same hit as vanriemsdyk because jvr has one of the better contracts inthe nhl right now.

My bad didn't know NYI had roughly 9Mil in cap space. Nelson is without a contract tho. I could see NYI wanting JVR but not the other 2. Isles already have JT, Strome, Nelson, Grabovski, Nielson, Cizsakas,(I think Bailey and Lee may be Centers aswell) and Barzal etc in the system.

Maybe a Dal Colle + for JVR trade could be a possibility?

12 Sep 2015 23:06:49
The only thing really worth Toronto trading for is Dal Colle, (sure, Nelson and Bailey are decent but they aren't that vital to team success) and NYI is not giving him up. Likewise, The only thing worth value to NYI is JVR and the 1st rounder, neither of which are the Leafs interested in giving up.

13 Sep 2015 00:23:00
not a good trade for the isles, sure JVR is a good player but Nelson had almost the same amount of goals last year as JVR and dal colle looks as though he will be better than both players. Bozak is useless for the isles as they already have taverns, Strome, Grabovski, czizkas, Nelson, Nielsen, that can already play center and better than Bozak.

Hahaha!
I guess it's that time of year when the deluded start coming out of the woodwork.

12 Sep 2015 21:31:05
Bailey like matches Bozaks cap, Nelson will make like 2 mil so literally with JVRs cap, NYI would only be taking on 2 extra mil. This is definitely a fair trade with JVR, an affordable bottom six in Panik (900k) and Bozak is better than Bailey with his experience. So if u want to look at it as JVR(a top line, affordable, young winger), Panik and PITs 1st for Dal Colle and Nelson. If anything Leafs r giving a little too Much here.

13 Sep 2015 01:29:56
Please stop with JVR rumours please. No one wants him

13 Sep 2015 01:30:41
i understand PIT will almost surely make the playoffs, but the point is that they do not have the pick (or any PIT 1st) guaranteed, therefore it only makes sense that they cannot trade it yet.

im not going to research it and ty to find an absolute answer to this because I simply don't care enough to find out if i'm correct or not, and because the lefs aren't giving away picks, they are collecting them.

13 Sep 2015 01:50:06
As much as I think JVR would do great with JT, I think NYI need to add to this. We should tak out the first also and they need to add a b prospect

13 Sep 2015 05:49:09
@shankar you make a good point that the pick would be tough to trade because of the conditions that's why I said maybe change it to their second and the third they got in the trade. I also agree toronto needs to acquire picks because of their rebuild but in this trade they would get young guys that fit the mold of the rebuild. Dal Colle should be the type of player they are looking for in a JVR trade. Picks are great for a rebuild but young players that already look ready for the nhl or that are already are playing in the nhl work just as well for a rebuild if not better.

also I only added bozak for cap reasons the islanders do have a lot of centers but players can shift to the wings. Both nelson and Bailey are considered centers that have been converted to wingers.

13 Sep 2015 22:08:38
Isles don't need or want Bozak, they have 6 centers better already. He provides NO value to them.
