I think McCarron is close to being untouchable. The Habs keep looking for big centres, don't think they're letting this one go before they try him out. The future would look great with Gally and big Mike down the middle for years to come!

no way Habs give away their top prospect ( McCarron) for some UFA rentals, plus Hamhuis is over rated and isn't good enough for Habs top 4... Habs pass
Jarred Tinordi / 2nd Round pick for Vrbata is OK, (but with 'Ghetto replacing Semin in top 9, not much room ...)

I think McCarron is getting overvalued by Habs fans. I know he's doing well right now but many aren't sure if he's a top 6 guy.
I also don't see how true fans dismiss this type of deal because guys are 'UFAs'. Sorry, but a contender will get whatever it needs to increase their chances of winning the Cup. Hamhuis and Vrbata would help a Cup run and both have tons of playoff experience (which is also key) .
Also, there is no way the Canucks deal Vrbata for Tinordi and a 2nd. Tinordi can't start for the Habs and has been a healthy scratch the entire season. I don't know what happened there. He had upside. Now he's a project and a gamble. Tinordi has not shown enough to warrant being in the top 6 with the Habs D and shouldn't fetch a big return in any trade. The Canucks need size on D and would buy low on Tinordi, I'm sure.

Make it Juulsen instead of Tinordi and the rest the same and I am game. COuld even sub out Mccarron and make 2nd a 1st/3rd or 4th.

is he 1st line or 2nd line or 3 rd line NHL? we'll see, but no way are Habs trading McCarron him now before he plays with them, especially for a bunch depth players, he's their top prospect and will play in NHL before season is up

McCarron is definitely not their top prospect. He had a hot start in the AHL but is cooling down. quickly. 9 goals so far and 3 came in one game. He is an interesting prospect but he is a prospect.
Hamhuis and Vrbata are guys that will help in a Cup run. They don't come for free or for scraps. Have to pay for guys like that. Look at recent deadline deals. I think my original offer is more than fair for both sides.
