Inspite of the emergence last season of obvious conflicts over Garth Snow's push to develop young prospects, the Islanders GM yesterday described his relationship with coach Ted Nolan as "good, great". Neither owner Charles Wang or Snow was happy with Nolan when he expressed some concern nearer to the end of the season about going into the final year of his 3 year contract without an extension.

So Sunday, Simon wondered why they did not receive the same time. 3 months after Simon was suspended an NHL-record 30 games for stepping on Pittsburgh forward Jarkko Ruutu's leg whilst a member of the Islanders, Pronger was given an 8 game suspension for stomping on the leg of Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler.

If there were questions about Derian Hatcher's ability to play again this season, he's about to end them. According to Flyers GM Paul Holmgren, the defenseman plans to skate with the team at practice today and is a possibility to play Saturday against the Islanders.
