Thrashers GM Don Waddell has waited to hire a head coach, and the list of candidates only got an impressive addition. On Tuesday, San Jose fired head coach Ron Wilson following the Sharks 2nd round playoff loss to Dallas.

The Sharks' failure to advance any closer to a Stanley Cup title this season than in their previous 2 cost Coach Ron Wilson his position Monday. "Sometimes the class requires a new professor and sometimes the professor requires a new class", GM Doug Wilson mentioned after declaring his dissatisfaction with the team's 3rd straight 2nd round exit.

Sources tell TSN Swedish prospect Fabian Brunnstrom was in Dallas and attended Game 3 of the Stars, Sharks Conference Semifinals with the Stars showing good interest in signing him. Brunnstrom is on a mini-North American tour, checking out the cities he is thinking about as possible sites to start his NHL career.

Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon mentioned he would like to "add a power-play guy. A really top notch defenseman who can play a lot of minutes, and a top notch forward". The offense could be boosted by a defenseman who can play QB on the power play and Sharks free agent Brian Campbell fits the bill perfectly.

Montreal, Both organizations were scouting each other heavily lately. 3. Anaheim, Ducks have excess draft picks and young players ready to contribute. 4. Dallas, The Stars would love to add a scoring winger to play beside Mike Modano. 5. San Jose, Sharks center Patrick Marleau would fit the bill of a player who immediately helps the Thrashers.

Judging by the crowd of scouts in the press box Thursday night in Pittsburgh, blood is in the water and the sharks are circling the Islanders. Even though Miroslav Satan has only 11 goals, he's a proven scorer who is probably going to attract significant interest, however he has a no trade clause.

Wade Redden provided yet another example Friday of only how difficult it is for Senators GM Bryan Murray to swing a major trade before the February 26 trade deadline. Murray acknowledges that he met with the defenseman Friday morning, telling him there is an opportunity to be moved, it is thought the Sharks were interested, if the 30 year old defenseman was willing to waive his no trade clause.

Whilst the Ducks must do the most juggling to inherit Mats Sundin's contract, the Sharks and Penguins (both with full season payrolls of about $41 million) can afford to acquire Sundin and more. Sundin could be an attractive fit in Pittsburgh, mentioned that former Rangers GM Phil Esposito.
