New York Islanders:

- TJ Brodie (RD)

Calgary Flames:

- Michael Dal Colle (LW)

- 2021 3rd conditional*

====

Makes sense for both teams. The Islanders are especially weak on the right side and even though Brodie is left handed, he has been playing on the right side for years.

Calgary has pretty weak LW scoring depth and Dal Colle gets a fresh start.

Eric Francis said that he was told that the Flames have tried shopping Brodie and the return wasn't there, so perhaps they will have to settle for this.

*If Brodie plays plays at least one full season for the Islanders or scores more than 40 points the 3rd turns into a 2nd.

Calgary gets the cap space to sign Tkachuk.

Need brodie more and i'd say he's worth more than that package.

@Sean. I mean, you can think he’s worth more all you want, but if the actual GM says the value wasn’t there, then obviously he isn’t viewed that favorably around the league.

CGY's LW depth is just fine Gaudreu, Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Lucic. Plus Dube about ready to make there's no room for a guy like Dal Colle.

@sean
Yeah, I guess you’re right Sean but there are multiple credible sources that say that there was a very little return available for Brodie.
This fills a need for both teams.

Ty, the comment right above you explains that lw is not a need for Calgary. SC named 4 lw, plus have like 8 or 9 centers that could play lw if need be.

Brodie will bring a better return at the deadline. Otherwise they keep him for the playoffs themselves.
