WPG: 10th Overall 2020, Roslovic
MTL: 16th Overall 2020, Domi

There's probably enough value moving between picks 10 to 16 as there is in Domi to Roslovic. Jets try Domi as a 2C, if not he's a W like Roslovic. Canadiens get a player that falls to 10 and a middle 6 W.

With Domi's new agent and apparent determination to either get overpaid on a long term contract or force his way to UFA though arbitration in two years, Winnipeg says no.

No way the Jets should do this trade as Domi is at best a 2nd line winger, 3rd line center, that will want way more $ than he is worth. Why would the Jets exchange draft picks and lose Roslovic for Domi when they need a true play making 2nd line center?

Maybe if it was the same proposal only instead of Domi the deal was to Edmonton for McDavid with 95% retention the jets fans might consider it. They might, might think McDavid would be good enough to meet their expectations of a 2nd line center.

I’d do it from habs, Roslovic I see as a third line center maybe a Phillip Danault type but I don’t think he’s really that special. I think he’s going to be like a 35-40 point center and maybe he can be a special unit guy. I’d take him in that deal. I would think Winnipeg would pull the trigger because Domi is from Winnipeg and might take a 5.5 million deal on 6 years.

Domi be getting hella overrated at this point. I’m sure the jets would want an affordable legit 2C and a young Top 4-6 defensemen without giving up core assets aka Laine. They could probably get a solid top 4 defensemen at the draft for their first + prospects. Hamonic even just built a new house in Winnipeg, I assume he’d take a discount to go home at free agency aswell. None of these trades entice Winnipeg imo. Sorry for the long rant :)

Habs shouldn’t do this trade as a team desperate enough for Domi will give a first straight up for him. The difference in 10th and 16th isn’t that huge this year as there is a big group that can go between 10-20 this year. Also Roslovic hasn’t proven much to really sweeten the pot.
