Lmao what? There's not enough space to explain how stupid this is.

I agree with the Triplets would be beyond idiotic for the leafs to trade a 23 year old top 10 winger in the game for a injury prone decline C.

Horrible for Tampa. I wanna explain how bad this is but I can’t. There’s too much. Sergachev is a 22yr old Top 4 defensemen, Stamkos is cheaper and better. Like I don’t get it from Tampa’s perspective. They’re not really saving much cap and have better options like Johnson, Killorn, Coburn.

Im a Canadiens fan and I hate the leafs but even I can admit Tampa is coming on top on this one. Stamkos value is not that high if you take into account his injuries, contract and age. Marner is worth about twice as Stamkos imo. Rodion Amirov and the first should equate to Sergachev but even if it’s just worth half of him, the difference in value between Amirov paired with the first to Sergachev is wayyyy smaller then the difference in value between Marner and Stamkos. Any one who says Tampa Bay is loosing this is either extremely biased or doesn’t have any idea of players values.

Steven Stamkos
* Cheaper & Shorter Contract ( 8.5 @ 4 years ) Compared to Marner’s ( 10.89 @ 5 years )
* Valuable Position (C)
* More Experienced / Leadership
* Produces More ( 57GP = 66Pts ) Compared to Marner’s ( 59GP = 67Pts )

Tampa is also in a win now mode so acquiring Amirov and a 1st for Sergachev would be a huge no. Also Sergachev is worth more than Amirov and a first.

I don’t get where Stamkos has no value and has a bad contract comes from. It’s cheap for the elite production he brings. He’s had some injury concerns but nothing recurring and they are overblown because when he has been hurt it’s been major and at key times. He’s only really had 3 injuries, and played full seasons his other 9 in the league. He is 34 at the end of his next contract, which isn’t crazy old and has shown no signs of decline, he will likely still be worth 8.5 in 4 years. He’s at the age guys sign contracts you regret the back half of, but without the back half. He’s also incredible in the room and community. I get the hesitation because of the high profile injuries, I just don’t see a zero or negative value on him, or the reasoning behind saying his contract is bad.

Stamkos passed on the leafs for Tampa. He signed a team friendly contract to stay, but also he's not paying Toronto taxes on it. He says no.
