No way Flyers would part with Provorov, he will be the anchor of Flyers D for next decade. some will argue he has more value than Laine.

Flyers keep provorov unless it’s in a deal for a much more complete player than Laine. He’s only a year older and is a legit #1 two way defenseman. can't trade that (plus Patrick) for a good winger.

Also they both make $6.75M, but Laine will want $8.5-$10M next year depending how this season goes. Provorov has 5 years left at that cap hit. He’s a steal.

A Laine trade would be tough to do:

- you can't give up too much for someone you may only have for one year.

- you can't offer too little because WPG still needs to sell a possible trade to their fan base.

WPG could maximize a return by allowing a team to negotiate an extension, but I see the team extending him at some point. The marketplace is too upside down with C.V. for Laine to hit a home run kind of deal elsewhere.

This would be a deal that would be fair and interest the Jets. They only do it if they start the season with the same defensive troubles they had last season. It takes quality to get quality and the Jets still have control of Laine for 3 more season. If posters here watch Laine play he is developing into a solid. physical 2 way player. I still hope the Jets don't trade Laine as the demons of trading Selanie still haunts Winnipeg.
