Jets go all in for the next two years with Jones and their aging core before the contracts expire. Jackets get a top D prospect, a middle 6 C prospect plus a first round pick. Win win for both teams.

As nice as Jones would be, the Jets aren't going to trade Heinola for a little more than a year of Jones.

@memarcusjoe I disagree. There window is now while Wheeler can still produce and Scheifele/ Hellybuck/ etc. are under contract. There window is the next 2-3 years so they might have to start making some tough decisions.

It's possible Jaxon, but Chevy is ultra conservative and a move like this isn't his style. Unless of course there are underlying issues that we don't know about, that would make Chevy act.

This is also ignoring that Columbus has no reason to move Jones. They're in the middle of their own push to make the playoffs and trading their best player now wouldn't be a good message to send to the team or fans. Especially after the Dubois debacle.

I think it is far more likely that the Jackets just ride out Jones's contract and try to re-sign him or use him as an own rental next year if they are in the thick of it. They could still trade Jones at next year's TDL and get a nice package back if they want.
