Canucks trade Brandon Sutter 50 retention.
Leafs trade Kerfoot 50% retention after this season.

Leafs struggle defensively and struggle winning faceoffs, Sutter becomes a big upgrade for the Leafs at the centre position.

Canucks get a below average 3rd line centre for the following 2 seasons.

Kerfoot's still better than Sutter, and if there's one thing the leafs do well besides scoring (which they haven't been doing a lot lately), it's taking faceoffs. Tavares is at 57% and Matthews is at 52; Nylander and Spezza often take draws in place of Kerf and Engvall who have struggled, and both of the former two are at 58%.

Sutter is an overall downgrade at center + a bigger cap hit for an upgrade to faceoff percentage which is something which the Leafs are pretty fine at. Pretty easy pass from Toronto, tbh.

You can't retain just some years of a contract anymore, it has to be for the entire duration of contract.

Leafs are a good face-off team, and should target glendenning who is the top face-off guy this season, albeit on a small total draws, butnstill is above Bergeron.

Ryan @50% is probably possible but the Flames would want a 4th round pick for him. That's without Kerfoot, if they want us to take Kerfoot too the price goes up, a 3rd if Kerfoot is also 50% retained, a 2nd if he isn't.
