Buffalo trade looks good for both teams.

I'm not sold on Laine, I wouldn't give up all that for him, especially not without an extension at a reasonable cost.

As for the NJ trade, looks good from Calgary's perspective but I'm not sure about NJ. If NJ needs a solid experienced 2nd/ 3rd line center then maybe it works for them too.

I do like the look of that lineup though with a few tweaks and big reservations about Laine.

Matthew Tkachuk Elias Lindholm - Patrik Laine
Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan - Sam Reinhart

The bottom 2 lines look ok too. It would be great to find out how Dube performs at center in the NHL. Also I'd forgotten Gawdin is a right shot, I don't like him at center but he might be a good option for 3rd/ 4th line RW.

Buffalo will get better offers for Reinhart.

This would never happen, taking on 12 + million with 14.5 million cap space. There are 12 roster spots to fill, the two added to the trade makes roughly ten spots to fill with 2.5 million bucks. this will never happen. this is such a Homer idea.

Please try again.

@BumbleBee

Add Backlund's 5.35 mil to the 14.5 mil in cap space they have now and that's 19.85 mil in cap space.

In addition they're allowed to go over the cap by I think it's 10% during the offseason. Maybe the Kracken take Gio or Lucic and if not there's still plenty of time to trade someone else to get back under the cap before next season start.

Personally though if it was up to me I'd pass on Laine and just get Reinhart. Like I proposed before Zary plus Calgary's first this year (#12) should get it done.
