Calgary Trades
Huberdeau

Toronto Trades
Kerfoot
NRobertson
1st Round Pick 2023
3rd Round Pick 2023
2nd Round Pick 2024

With the word out Huberdeau has no plans of resigning after this upcoming season, it might be better to just trade Huberdeau now without putting anymore drama going forward for The Flames.

My proposal is more about the future then the present, Kerfoot on an expiring contract as well might be just one season but at least it won't come with drama for the team, NRobertson plus the 3 Draft Picks is the main transaction in this proposal.

The Leafs solve there LW search adding one of the best in Huberdeau and what would be left trade wise is getting Muzzin and Holl of the books and adding one more Defenceman that can play beside Rielly, for Toronto having Knies full time ready after this season won't make it as hard to replace if Huberdeau does walk away from The Leafs.

Thoughts ?

If Calgary are sellers at the deadline, this could be enough to get them to bite. However I don’t think they would be interested in Kerfoot on a one year deal if that was the case.

I highly doubt they are sellers there, and from what I’ve heard, Huberdeau and Weegar are actually very open to long term deals in Calgary.

I don’t see why either team does that right now. The leafs need goaltending, defence, and depth throughout the lineup. CGY is going to make a run for it.

The leafs need forwards not defence. The leafs will roll with their goalies for better or worse.

@chickenfoot. The Leafs depth is actually okay, and I mean although the goaltending could be improved, I think it’s safe to say there isn’t going to be any changes to it this upcoming year unless it really goes wrong during the regular season.

Defence is a maybe, I mean they still have to lock up Sandin and they signed Mete and Benn, so they have about 9 guys who could play an NHL level role. Yes they could always improve it, but I think Dubas is done in that regard, for now at least.

Believe it or not, the majority of Leafs nation feels we need an upgrade at 2LW beside Tavares and Nylander. Robertson could maybe be that guy, but you never know how prospects will pan out. If the Leafs do move Kerfoot, I think the plan is to play Robertson there. If he succeeds then awesome, if he struggles then I think we could see and early season trade to upgrade that position.

Just an audible snort noise. Calgarys not dumb . Maybe deadline deal?

@TheMostLeaf: you’d know better than I, but from the outside it seems like depth is an issue. Half the cap to 4 guys makes it a challenge to fill out the roster, but you’re a reasonable cat so I definitely give you the benefit of the doubt?.

Yeah it certainly doesn’t help lmao. I was talking more in a sense of guys who could play 4th line minutes. My assumption is the 4th line will be Simmonds-Gaudette-AK. However, guys like Steeves, Anderson, and Clifford could probably play that role as well.

However, in terms of scoring depth, there definitely isn’t a lot behind the top 4 guys. Bunting is a great player but I mean who wouldn’t hit 20 goals and 60 points if he wasn’t playing with Matthews and Marner let’s be honest. Knies could be a top 6 option, as sometimes guys who come out of college can play at the NHL level right away, but even if he does work out he won’t be able to sign until about a month or so before playoffs. Everyone else, beyond Morgan Reilly, probably isn’t touching 40 points unless Robertson, Sandin, and/ or Liljgren have crazy breakout years.

Kerfoot will absolutely break 40 points. Probably 50 points. His contract is up this year so he will be playing hard as LW to Tavares I see him pushing 60 this season.

Huberdeau and Weegar have both said they're open to resigning long term with Calgary. They also said their agents are already talking to Treliving about it.

If they don't resign and wind up being traded Calgary would have absolutely no interest in Kerfoot or Robertson. They'd be looking for a top 6 forward preferably a center with good size and have prospects that are both bigger (a little) and better than Robertson.

Another one sided trade favoring the Leafs.
